Re: Moon's SUPER SECRET Bonus Challenge! Vol. 36

I scrapped my 532 words from the other day and started anew. I now got a 998 words flash I'm quite happy with. I think I'll be shopping it around, though, so I'm not going to post it here because of first publication rights. Which is a shame, because I would've loved getting your feedback, Wulf. wot...

Ideas and characters usually show up somewhere else. I'm a firm believer in recycling. Haha :) Me too actually. Unfortunately sometimes during revisions I recycle in a great sentence or idea just a paragraph or two before it originally appeared while thinking it was a fresh idea to add in that spot...

From what I've gathered, you're paid per word when your story makes it into the anthology - apart from the prize money as a winner.

I write in WORD 2010 and in Scrivener. I usually plot only in Scrivener after many try/fails on transferring prose from Scrivener to/from Word. Did you copy&paste to Word or compile your Scrivener project into a word document? Getting the compile settings right can be a bit tricky - but it's ce...

I've never really achieved anything of worth in my life, so, if I can do this... I can do anything. I'm pretty sure you've achieved a great many things in life. It's usually just a matter of perspective. E.g. you say that you're a Massage Therapist, so you've worked your way to that profession, and...

Re: Writers of the Future asks for your podcast input.

I really like the podcast so far. It's so interesting to hear from the judges!

There only seems to be a slight issue with the mix/mastering. E.g. in the episode with Kevin and Rebecca, Rebecca's voice was really low compared to Kevin's, so I had to change the volume constantly to hear everything.

I've had issues communicating with Joni via email in the past. She wouldn't get my emails sent from and outlook.com address. We had to switch to an address on my personal domain for it to work.
This time I entered with outlook.com again and it seems to be working fine.

Hi, Helge. It was a bad quarter for my wife's health, and that means a bad Q for me. I asked her if she could spare me two days at the end of the month if at all possible, and somehow that worked. So it was last two days of the last Q of the contest year. I had the afternoon the day before deadline...

Re: Moon's SUPER SECRET Bonus Challenge! Vol. 36

I'm working on my Q3 right now, and I'm a bit discouraged because it is in first person, which has been revealed as a discouraged style for the contest. I feel that it adds to the story, but I don't want to hurt my chances further by using a style that the judges really don't like. I have read othe...

This is not a regular occurance for me. I had to fight for every sentence of my last two rough drafts, but they also weren't nearly as rough. I got ambushed by a scene I couldn't ignore and ended up writing a rough draft of my Q3 in screenplay format today. It's missing the meat (i.e. the prose), but it's got the skeleton (a.k.a. the themes, which came about as a direct consequence of the characters and their dialogue). Everything fell t...

I got a similar rejection for my HM today. I'd say these are personal :) " Dear Helge, Thank you for giving me a chance to read "<story title>." I liked the quality of the prose and I liked the beginning of the story, but the narrative lost momentum for me and overall the story didn't...
