Re: Discussion: Q2 Volume 37

Is anyone out there experienced with electrical engineering? Even just working with toys and what not. Normally, I'd ask my hubby or brother-in-law for help, but they're both buried in higher work loads than usual due to C-19. A week and a half to go... Argh! I'll be happy to critique/proof/edit in ...

Re: Discussion: Q2 Volume 37

Yeah, you all who have already submitted have my respect. I'll work until the last second. That said, I've got a 14k story that I need a fresh pair of eyes on. I'm happy to critique any length of story you've got.

Re: Q4 Story Critique Exchange?

Hey there, Would anyone be down for a story exchange for this quarter? I'm sitting on a ~9,000 story right now that I've edited it enough I'm blind to any other failings in the story. I'm looking for 2-3 folks to swap with if anyone needs another set of eyes on their stuff. wotf007 I'm game if you ...

Re: Discussion: Q2, Volume 36

Argh. Posted without realizing i was logged out! Rejected again. Frustrating because it's a much improved rewrite of the HM. I plan on subbing it elsewhere, but I'd really appreciate a critique first if anyone's willing to swap? Want to make sure it's as good as it can be. Thanks! And yes, I've alre...

May fortune favor us all!

Part of me says it can't, but that's wrong. I've learned too much from my failures to believe they can't be a favor.

Re: NEW USERS! INTRODUCE YOURSELVES!

Just finished your interview and put in an order for WotF35, but is that where I find your story? Is it scheduled for 36? I devour things that make me bawl, so I'm looking forward to it. LOL And yes, I know what you meant about wanting to use the contest to launch your career and I do feel the same ...

Re: NEW USERS! INTRODUCE YOURSELVES!

I did listen to it and several other podcasts and have seen more than four lights. (Thank you, Patrick Stewart.) Somewhere in the podcast, Preston mentioned not wanting to mention his HM in queries because an HM is a rejection. I'd had the same fear. Not any more, so I want to thank him and D.W.S. f...

Re: NEW USERS! INTRODUCE YOURSELVES!

I'm a new forum user, but I've entered the contest more times than I care to think about. I did win an Honorable Mention once, so hope springs eternal for my latest entry! wotf007 I write both adult and YA, mostly historical fantasy, but my one and only professional sale was a piece of flash fiction...

Re: Discussion: Q4 Volume 36

Hmmm indeed. My guess is, the seeds of motivation/goals/needs are there. You may need to parcel out - one by one - the things these characters are lashing out against. I doubt they are what the character is angry about. It's just my opinion, but in some way, these rage-targets are likely linked to s...

Re: Discussion: Q4 Volume 36

Henckel, I love this idea and Helge Mahrt's suggestion is great. I'd also recommend (in conjunction with what she said) taking a look at what that character's goals are, as that should touch on his emotional/internal arc. Does his internal arc involve changing his status, or maturing, redemption, th...

Re: Discussion: Q4 Volume 36

I've got at least three stories available that haven't gone to WotF. One I wrote this week and two from earlier this year. I'm not sure what I'll be submitting for Q4, since there's still AGES to write more stories. I started a new fantasy novel this week and am querying my historical fiction, but ...

Re: Discussion: Q4 Volume 36

I actually have an idea, a conceptualized ending (although I prefer to write start to finish, when possible, so I haven't gotten there yet), and the first scene and a half rough-drafted for a potential Q4. It kind of happened by accident while I was waiting on feedback for my Q3. I'm usually nowher...
