Re: Discussion: Q2 Volume 37

I rewrote my story for the third quarter- from first person to third. And I must say, it allowed me to write a better story. I have so many more options this way as an omnisent observer of what’s happening. Though, if my story was badass enough, first person could still win. I am dying for the resu...

Re: Discussion: Q3 Volume 37

Sent in my first ever submission this quarter! It was all of 16,872 words ... and of course, I submitted before I read Moon's SUPER SECRET Posts. wotf012 (I'm guessing I should probably focus more on submitting a true short story in the future than an excerpt of my larger novel???) The true benefit...

Re: Discussion: Q2 Volume 37

I hadn't heard anything about the judges disliking first person POV, could you tell me where that is? I imagine it is mostly because it is easier to make mistakes in it, such as switching viewpoints, but that is just a guess. Check out Moon's super secrets #25: don’t write a story in 1st person for...

Re: Discussion: Q2 Volume 37

I got HMs for my first two entries to the contest and am awaiting Q2 results with interest as the story I submitted for it I think is better than the first two. Watch me get my first rejection now... This is in contrast to my Q3 entry, which I really don’t like very much at all. Don’t feel discoura...

Saw Dave make a post on FB that he's reading all your stories today to get results out ASAP. So he's still reading and deciding. LOL. So that just popped the bubble. Do we know if he and Kary tag-team first-reading or is she the slush reader and Dave reviews what makes it past her? Kary's the first...

Editing your posts can change the words shown in the responses Honestly, I don't think it does? It will change for people who try to quote it after changes have been made, but not for quotes made beforehand. People can edit their posts to alter or delete the quotes, though. Hmm, but I've tried it b...

Re: Number of Published Finalists

Hermoine, I don't know if the 4th place finishers are the PF, but I don't think they consider final placement / rank when filling out the volume. They'll go by story length or shoring up a weakness (needs more fantasy, choose a fantasy story). That said, my first finalist was 4th place. Joni told m...
