I got a Image but was very hopeful with this one. Still, huge improvement from Q3.

Re: Discussion: Q3 Volume 37

I haven't heard anything yet either AJZach and Brittany, et,al., note that no semifinalists have been announced. They hold those back briefly in case a finalist bows out or is disqualified. They will then pull one from the eight semifinalists to replace the finalist. So I’m guessing you’re one of t...

Re: Discussion: Q3 Volume 37

I got a rejection :( It was a rewrite of my previous story that got an HM, but it was also before I joined the forum. Have since realized I did everything wrong with the rewrite so I expected a rejection but was mildly optimistic it would at least place. Congratulations to all those who placed and a...

Re: How do you write eloquently?

I didn't mean to be harsh and apologize if it came across that way, Corbin! We're all learning here. I recently listened to this WE podcast and it reminded me of this thread so figured I would share here: https://writingexcuses.com/2017/03/26/12-13-beautiful-prose-purple-prose/ It helped me realize ...

Re: Wulf Moon's SUPER SECRETS Workshop & Challenge!

Hello everyone, I want to start participating in these super secrets as they look super helpful! I assume I can just jump in? I see that right now you are in the middle of an exercise that has different parts so perhaps it would be better to wait until the next one so I don't have to go back throug...

Re: Almost Success - The "Mixed Feelings" Thread

Thank you BlackInk. It is great to see it on the S&S Magazine website. That would be so awesome, perhaps others may benefit from the insight as well.. I genuinely seek to understand the subtleties. That is where the magic happens. Yes, it is great to get personalized feedback from a venue like ...

Re: Almost Success - The "Mixed Feelings" Thread

Thank you, Wulf! I will keep up the work. Great about your personal rejection from BCS, Tedeschi! I was so impressed they wrote back with specific critiques in my story too. Congrats on your story being published in Swords and Sorcery! If I have time later today or this week, I'll give your story a ...

I got an answer from Joni.

Thanks for inquiring. It is best not to. If a judge says they have seen a story online while judging, the story becomes disqualified.

best,

Joni

I don't want to start a new thread so I hope you don't mind my asking my question here.

If part of a story was posted on one of the reddit writing subs, can it be used for WotF?

Re: Discussion: Q4 Volume 37

I'm working on the next quarter's story and could use some fresh eyes. It's hovering around 2500, which is a different problem than my norm. I tend to go WAAAY over. I started this with a Wulf Moon KYD and it's like the thing needs a shot of growth hormone. Does anyone have time? I'd be happy to of...

I like this idea. I'd be happy to participate. Wulf is right about not getting too obsessed with tweaking your old works. I have this problem. But I agree that finding out why you didn't quite get there can be an important learning tool So, I'd be happy to send out my SHM for a crit and to give sam...

Re: NEW USERS! INTRODUCE YOURSELVES!

Hello, all! I've been writing on again, off again since I was a teenager. After publishing in college mags, I never successfully published anywhere and in Sep 2019 submitted to WotF for the first time. I got an honorable mention but was so disappointed in myself and the story because I knew it could...

Re: How do you write eloquently?

My problem with eloquent writing is when it enters the world of "purple" prose, or the imagery doesn't actually make sense but sounds pretty, or it's a literary attention grab that doesn't actually add anything to the story. Anybody want to post writing snippets as practice towards eloquen...
