Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

Hey, I've been away from the forums for a while, and lurking just recently for this crazy prolongued quarter. I can report that I am also a hold, though. What's LAMPS?

Re: Pointers from Frederik Pohl

I've long ago reached the realization that I can't stop writing, even if I never see an acceptance. It's not why I write, as much as I have and will continue to strive for it.

Just want to say thanks to Brad for staging all these interviews, etc. They've been a wonderful addition to the forum!

Re: Sci-Fi and Fantasy Books You Enjoy?

Interesting, very different from my list. I have to look up a lot of these authors--this is a useful thread to have. I mostly read fantasy myself, but I've been having difficulty finding new authors that I enjoy. Some of my favorites: Robin Hobb's Farseer trilogy, and the trilogy that follows that o...

Re: Videos&Art to inspire SF / FANTASY ideas? Post YOURS ?!

Is it a weird aspect of human psychology how if you put monumental, soaring music behind scenes of human destruction ... it takes on a sense of ... righteous Destiny? Indeed, it's amazing how much music can influence your emotions, and thus impact your perspective on a scene. Alas, this is a device...

Re: Videos&Art to inspire SF / FANTASY ideas? Post YOURS ?!

I was just writing a dramatic scene in my current story and this song popped into my head out of nowhere. Fifth Element Diva Dance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJB5Rqc1m0Y&feature=related I love it, I love it. (Okay, the fight scene is pretty atrocious, but the song is amazing.) P.S. Snow, I ...

Re: Success!

Ah, see, I thought you were talking about the stories that aren't speculative fiction at all, Prisoner. There have been some of those. The very first one, with the forged documents, I believe didn't have any speculative fiction. The one about the chef who serves himself (a touch of horror, perhaps? ...

Re: Success!

Ooh, tough luck. That's going to hurt your exemplary race score. Don't those publishers know that you're aiming for 100?

Really, though, congrats! First pro sale is awesome!
