Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

This thread now has 1721 posts. That makes this quarter the most posted ever. wotf015 Hmm...wonder what that means?

Maybe we should just call ourself LMPS. That way I can pronounce it lumps or limps...which somehow seems more appropriate.

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

Speaking of which, does anyone know what the protocol is for logging an HM in Duotrope? My inclination is to record a "personal rejection." Please let me know so I can record my status ASAP. Clearly there are no controls and no protocol. But there are two prevailing theories: 1. The Criti...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

I'm awake, I'm awake... wotf035 First, I'll insert my opinion on us LAMPS. (Going to use HE for ease of reading, not that I know anything.) 1. our stories are/were physically in Oklahoma. They need to be boxed up, those read and those not, and shipped to the new guy. This will take time. 2. the new...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

Thanks Hazlett, we were all waiting. And congrats on the HM. Nice! Here's another analysis, using the below scoring system: HM = 1 point SHM = 2 pts SF = 4 pts F = 8 pts With so many tiers, it's difficult to see who's received the most recognition. But using this scoring system, the top three people...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

So we've got six paper subs accounted for for sure. And yes, what is this "hold" pile? Claw-chomp inducing indeed. Preston usually does paper subs, but I don't know if he uses Duotrope. Maybe when he is on here next he will let us know. And now a magical hold pile? Good luck Gator Gal! I'...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

Published finalist is made of awesome. I'd love to do the whole thing twice, mostly the workshop. Yes! When I explain the contest to people, my long-winded rant always ends, "So ideally, I'd get published finalist and then go on to win." wotf001 Should be a bit easier to win after I've go...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

Must be a lot of entries this quarter, because this seems to be one of the longest waits ever! Or maybe, the stories are all just so darn good that poor KD can't decide. I can't imagine we'll have to wait until May. Still, we don't even have one verified HM yet. Weird.

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

[Maybe Joni is waiting to send out all responses that aren't straight rejections at the same time. Except the winners, of course.[/quote] Has this ever even happened before? Seems to me it's always been waves of rejections with little sprinklings of HMs mixed in. I don't think there has ever been a ...

Another week passes. The survivors march on. They look at each other. Who will be the next casualty? Who will live another day? It's too late to turn back now. It's do or die.
March on!

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

Yikes, the list of us who are still in is pretty long. Not quite enough semi and finalists spots to go around. Looks like some of us are going to have to settle for an HM.

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

Wow, that's a lot of rejections. I'm sorry guys. I hate when people on the forum get rejected. But if I remember correctly, KD did say that perfectly good stories do get rejected, not because they were bad, but because they got edged out. Inexplicably I'm still in at this point, but now I'm scared! ...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

No HM's yet? Hmmmm...might be another tough quarter. I noticed that last quarter the HM list was a little shorter than usual. Maybe KD's upping the bar a bit. Corbin, Congratulations on making semi-finalist, and a BIG thank you for the sneek-peak at the beginning of your story. I have always been curious about what separates a reject from an HM, from a semi-finalist... From what I read, I can see why your entry did so well. It is definitely unique and ver...

Re: NEW USERS! INTRODUCE YOURSELVES!

Hey all! This is my first time writing on the forum, but I hope to visit often. I am so excited because I got my first HM last year (2nd quarter 2010). It was just the inspiration I needed after having entered...wait for it...16 times! Yikes! I first started entering way...way...way back in 1986, bu...
