Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

As far as the contest goes, I believe I remember Brad saying the rights reverted upon publication. And Holly, I hadn't thought about the multiverse! Yes, we can all win. wotf053 That's correct, though they do ask that you request permission to republish as a courtesy. It's only a courtesy though.

Re: Analog Submissions

Preston,
That’s great to hear. If you’re going to be a cautionary story, this is the way you want it to turn out (i.e. not the one where Nick T insults all of speculative fiction royalty at the LA workshop).

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

UEMfBCTW, Welcome aboard and I wouldn't worry about spilling the news. My experience both times was that Joni specifically told me not to say anything (I may have been one of the earlier recipients to receive the call). If she didn't instruct you to keep it to yourself, it probably means that they w...

Re: Five Minute Rant

Hmmmm....I was promised that winning WOTF would lead to worldwide adulation and fame, as well as my own magazine (a la Brad's Bradalog ). What are all these form rejections doing cluttering my inbox? Oh, and my 2010 finalist, which I love, is about to be trunked. Sigh. And that's nothing compared to...

Hi Zali,

If you fill the criteria and you're happy that I'm not a quick critiquer, I'm happy to step in.

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

Kary,

I've been away from the forum for a while for a number of reasons, so I've only just read the bad and then the good news. I'm glad the kidlet is okay; there's nothing worse than small children and hospitals.

Re: Success!

And congrats Ryan and Alex. Btw, after meeting Ryan in LA, I can confirm that he is both a hell of a writer and a great guy. My only regret is that too many 3am nights listening to Mike Resnick stopped me from staying up and talking to Ryan more.

Re: Success!

I received a pleasant email while I was at the WOTF workshop that Dark Discoveries Magazine wish to pick up my 4K horror story Metastasis . Dark Discoveries is an interesting UK horror media mag that publishes a few stories in every edition, paying pro-rates for dark fantasy and horror. I'm quite ch...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

have yet to hear back on my story: 16,999 wds and all of it ending--no set-up, no Frietag's triangle, no climax, just straight-up ending. It ties off loose ends of plot strands that don't even exist. The reader is left to infer everything that preceded it, including who the characters are and what ...

Re: Analog Submissions

Thank you, Nick! After my long day of tedious work, you made my night! I'm glad, though I wish my blurb carried as much weight as Jerry Pournelle's. You can slip my recommendation into random forum posts. How about you put the following blurb on the front of a redesigned cover? Random internet guy ...

Re: Analog Submissions

[Brad's not the one you have to worry about. He's not an editor (yet). But be glad Stanley Schmidt didn't see it! You might give him ideas... "Hmmm... An all-Torgersen issue... That might work..." It’s a bit hush-hush at the moment, but in 2012 Analog is changing its title to Torgersen ma...
