Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

So, thinking about when when Martin and I were in the NNiNN pile - just the two of us, he was actually already in a different IAHN pile? (IAHN = I already have news) Sneaky!.. Maybe it was the IKENWINS pile? (I know exciting news which i'm not sharing?) David I hope you get some exciting news of yo...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

Yahoooo!! I emerge from under the horrible terrible kindy-virus of 2012 which has laid my household low and find results... real results wow! Congratulations Holly and Jeremy! Congratulations Martin! I was deeply suspicious that you were a secret finalist, but I was nowhere near guessing you had kno...

Re: Success!

Congrats Steve!

Congrats Alex - that was a great read.

Congrats Strycher! Can't wait to read it, when does it come out on the site for those-who-should-really-get-a-DSF-subscription?

Re: First Four-Fifty Critique Exchanges

I'm good to go for 450s.

My Q3 is going to be a much longer beast than I usually write, and feels different to my other stories. Plus this is me having my first go at writing specifically for the contest.

Also having feedback on the beginning might inspire me to get the thing finished!

Sorry to hear your news Jeanette. Please take care.

Strycher - I have a 3.5K story I can swap with you if you are still interested? How soon do you want the crit/what is the usual turn-around on these things?

Re: Success!

I just sold my first story!!! Yay! wotf047 *Clears throat* Ok, back into business mode. Now, I too have a story slated for inclusion in Tom's second volume of Mirror Shards . I wrote it specifically for the anthology, so I'm thrilled he liked it. Can I add my little guy wotf047 to yours Marina, as ...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

We played the version of spoons where there are no spoons! Instead of grabbing a spoon you put your finger on your nose. It didn't have the crazed clamouring for a spoon (probably to its detriment), but it had the added subtlety of being able to touch your nose quietly on-the-sly and then watch the ...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

And making pubbed finalist twice and then winning would be one hell of an acomplishment! I wonder if they'd actually do that. By the time they are picking the pubbed finalist it is not anonymous anymore right? And it is discretionary for a number of reasons (not necessarily just 'next best story'),...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

I am still in Q1 too. Been getting awfully muddy here in the trenches, could do with a nice long bubble-bath. Just out of curiosity - upon submitting Q1 entries, did people get both the 'thankyou for your submission' email AND the 'you are successfully entered' email? Last quarter I got both, this q...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

Wow! I woke up this morning and found email from WizeHive (regarding the awards show); and I thought sure it would've caused panic on this thread from people who saw the sender and assumed it was a results notice. But not a single panic response here. Not one. Excellent work, all. Thank you for exc...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

This thread has been making me giggle muchly - you are all awesome! wotf010 Patrick I loved the idea of your "all-ending" story - was it all tragically beautiful? Condolences to all those caught in the cross-fire so far. I think it is sad that instead of opening up my email as I would usua...

Re: Q1 Volume 29

I'm in too. Even though I don't think this story is a "WotF story" as such it is still exciting to click submit! It's another shorty, coming in at 3500 words. I have one that I am thinking is more along WotF lines, but it got bumped to Q2, what with the not being written yet and all. Goodl...

Vanaaron - I really liked your "structural gimmick". That dischordant moment of "hey, what???" made it all the more powerful when I worked it out. Great story!

Wow Martin, it sounds like you are in a good spot right now! wotf007 You have an "unexpected novel"? What's that? Is it where you think you are writing a short story but it goes really long? Or were you sleep-typing? I feel the same way - I feel like submitting my story ASAP...but then aga...

Re: Q1 Volume 29

I have a Q1 entry! Well, almost; it is written, now awaiting an in-depth read-over by my husband (who so far has skimmed it while at work). A brief edit and it will be off. Admittedly it is a bit of a cheat because it is a major over-haul of a story I wrote many many years ago. Also, my stories are ...

Re: NEW USERS! INTRODUCE YOURSELVES!

Greetings! I thought I would de-lurk… as I was getting to feel a bit dirty and stalkerish! I’ve always dabbled with writing but in general things like procrastination, fear of failure, laziness all impeded me and all it really amounted to was a secret hankering… I think the biggest thing that change...
