Re: Discussion: Q3 Volume 36

After 12 plus years I'm still here. I don't remember when exactly I joined the forum. There was one before this one started in 2007 and I was posting on that one. I saw Brad and Kary win, plus lots of others before them. It's a strange feeling when you're writing, entering, and posting; and then wa...

Re: How Short Is Too Short?

I believe there was a finalist a few quarters back that was flash fiction. 1k words. Dave felt it qualified for publication, so there is that, but it didn't make it past the judges. Still, I wouldn't go under 2k. That's my personal minimum and not anything official.

Re: Discussion: Q3 Volume 36

I'm inching my way back into writing with consistency. Even if just visiting the forum again and opening my stories to tinker with the openings... I have unread messages here from July 2018. How embarrassing. With that amazing intro, I'm here to ask if anyone has a story I can critique. For me, the ...

So THANK YOU for making us work those writing muscles! You are awesome! If my claim to fame is merely to have helped others...

Amos, I'll probably still be around for Magic in the 4th, v 36. Ha! I really want to get in this Q. I got a silver for 2/35, then an R. That's my year. Not very satisfying. I've got a great story that just needs time and attention. And I've got three months. Fingers crossed! p.s. Thanks Gruffbane. I...

Re: Discussion: Q4 Volume 35

Hi all. A quick question for off of you that have been published in the WOTF annual books. How different was your original story from the final published version? Did you find your stories required a lot of polishing/revision/editing? Or were there only minimal polishing edits??? (I'm gaging the st...

I'm working on revising a story I'd started on, the front 450 of which I bounced off Dustin a while back. Got swept up in other things, but kept thinking about his feedback, and the resulting revision (killing a transition) restaged the story and made the whole premise a lot more interesting... So ...
