Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

So I have this eerie feeling tomorrow is going to be a messy one for some of us, and I just wanted to say it has been a pleasure serving with you all. Just think, the waiting is about to start all over again (okay, I know we get a couple of months to focus on other things before it really gets heate...

Re: Five Minute Rant

Clarkesworld has a similar if less-nuanced tiered system.

From what I can tell, the standard is:
"Unfortunately, your story isn't quite what we're looking for right now."

vs. the near-miss:

"Unfortunately, your story was close, but not quite what we're looking for right now."

Re: Five Minute Rant

If the rant-threaders will indulge me for a moment longer, this whole feedback thing is why I like tiered rejections so much. Fantasy & Science Fiction has a system I adore (Lightspeed, too, though I cannot vouch for this personally). Their rejects go like this: 1) ... "didn't grab my inte...

Re: Five Minute Rant

I'm only in the 400s currently, though I have one 77 days past average, and I suspect it is not for a good reason (at least not good for me). Re: Oh, man, is it spammer season again ALREADY?

As far as suggestions for moving things, not that Brad has really solicited such input, the convention stuff in Writing might be more appropriate to the Science Fiction and Fantasy thread, since I doubt much real writing gets done at cons. wotf011

Re: Five Minute Rant

Though it was Martin (and not I) who founded this thread, I'd like to suggest, in the interest of what I perceive to be the initial intention, that perhaps we should limit it to rants and commiserations only. A rant should be just that, a rant . It needn't conform to logic or reality--it is an emoti...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

I find it really interesting that, at least according to the small sample Duotrope provides, notifications (rejections at least) were following a generally chronological path through submissions. The "Responses have been received for submissions sent as recently as..." date has steadily pr...

Sticking with the warfare metaphor:
