Careful, Liz! The reek of spam coming off Bradles is sure to draw the Gator. I'd keep my distance.

Range of Ghosts has been out since March, so it's odd that he'd be reading an ARC. On the upside, there's no need to wait if you're interested in reading it. :)

Re: NEW USERS! INTRODUCE YOURSELVES!

HI, Scott, Welcome to the forum!! This is one of the best places on the net. There's lots of inspiration and camaraderie here, leavened by a healthy dollop of silliness. Most of the general hanging out happens in the quarterly Jibber Jabber threads. Hanging out, angsting over results or deadlines, t...

I have a crackpot theory about Q4s... *dons tinfoil hat* Before I start, there is ZERO inside info here. Nada. Zip. Zilch. I wonder if Q4s are different all the way around, from the Big R all the way up to finalists? See, by the time the first reader gets to Q4, she (if KD) or he (if Dave) already h...

Ditto what Greenroom said. The thing about Codex and IGMS is that all Codexians, even those who have not gone to OSC's Bootcamp, are allowed to check the Bootcamp option during submission, thus skipping the regular slush and going straight to Eric James Stone.

You can pick up your 30 day token from... Oops, wrong forum. :)

Yeah, Jibber Jabber is where most of us talk about the quarter in progress, marshmallows, 80s music, rejectomancy, lengthomancy, Duotropery, frippery, philately, and many other less relevant topics. :D

Hi, Tris!

Welcome to our happy little corner of the internet. :)

There's a wealth of camaraderie and information here. A lot of the former happens in the Jibber Jabber threads, while the latter can be found throughout, but concentrated in the Writing sub-forum.

Cheers!

Best wishes in Q4!

Commiserations, Dustin. My Apex experience was remarkably similar. My story went wayyy long, then the R came back and Duo showed two other Rs on the same day, both with similar waits and then one acceptance. So you just know they were giving 4 stories a hard look and only picked one. But hey, you'll...

Re: Is this a 'wandering' opening?

Here's another tidbit from the DF workshop - setting is important, and a lot of times, setting means description. Even more to the point (and I kind of hate to muddy the waters with this), DF is a setting guy. See, the "wandering" opening, or the sitting-on-rock-thinking opening typically ...

Re: Almost Success - The "Mixed Feelings" Thread

Ok, now that I've slept on it, I guess i do feel the tiniest smidgen of disappointment. There is, however, a method to my madness. We all know the anthologies are sci-fi heavy, right? And we know that 'balance' is one of the things considered when selecting the pubbed finalist, ergo a fantasy story ...

Re: NEW USERS! INTRODUCE YOURSELVES!

If we're talking Q3, results should start to come out in the next week or two (my money's on Monday), and we should have Finalists by a month from now.

For Q4, the entry deadline is the end of Sept and results should be in before Christmas. ;)

As always, YMMV. :)
