Re: Please help me pick a cover :)

I totally get wanting to write a story to match some of those covers! And yes, I think of it as Goon Write, too. :)

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

Aw, man! Someone read my latest ms. and said there were a few nits. Now my scalp itches. *scratches* Nope, wait - just a stray comma. ;) I mostly dream in pictures. I have, however, dreamt in foreign languages, in chatroom scroll and in Word pages with the cursor moving and words appearing. I also d...

"Didn't hold" is the middle rejection. It means the story lost him before he finished, but he at least made it past the beginning.

Thanks, Annie and Monty!

I've pretty much decided to go with Contact, with some possibly tweakage involving the type.

Please help me pick a cover :)

Hi, all, I need a cover for Flight of the Kikayon (see my sig. to read it) a sci-fi novelette that features a clone-related plot with a female MC who's a castaway on a water planet. The mood is a combo of hard neurosci SF, action & adventure, and a certain literary feel. Which of these do you li...

Re: Success!

So it turns out I do have writing news after all. :) I sold a story to Fireside Magazine today! No idea yet of when it will appear, but I'm really pleased this story found a home so soon, and to such a new-yet-respected market! Apparently playing with Greek mythology worked for them. Woot! Congrats...

Re: Beneath Ceaseless Skies

I recently got a nice personal from BCS at 41 days.

IMHO, BCS is a plum of a market. Something like 75% of their rejections are personals. They make you feel all warm and fuzzy so you almost don't care that they didn't buy your story. wotf011 Almost. wotf002

Yes, Paula Goodlett is another one of the top editors there. Sam told me he wanted the story, but Paula and Eric both had to sign off for the sale to be considered official.

Re: Almost Success - The "Mixed Feelings" Thread

I take rejection harder than I used to, and I'm not sure why. Possibly, it's hope. See, a year ago, I never thought I'd sell anything. Then I had some close calls, and I started to think "Hey, this could happen."

So maybe fear isn't the mind killer. Hope is. wotf004

Brad Beaulieu. I'm in the middle of The Winds of Khalakavo, and it's gorgeous. It also struck me that he writes like I do (but better).
