Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

FYI - 100 more views on this thread and we break 200,000. At this rate, we should hit a million somewhere around V36 or so. 794 more posts on this thread and we break 5,000. At this rate, I'm too tired from shoveling snow to do any math... wotf013 Did someone say math? Using Taylor series, if: e^x ...

Re: Analog Submissions

Trevor must be thinking if he doesn't clear out some of my trash he'll soon be drowning in crazy gator woman stories. (And yes, the latest story submitted was my recent WotF HM-winning crazy gator story.) As for the 176-day form, no great surprises there as this is the one that got a "send mor...

Re: Analog Submissions

The slush pull is not 100% chronological. For one thing, we know Trevor often pulls names he recognizes sooner than others (though not my name lately -- I've been mostly in line with the other responses). I also suspect he sometimes pulls for length: if he only has time or need for shorter works, h...

Re: Analog Submissions

The word from codex is that a few rejections are coming down the pipeline, but things are still very, very slow. Duotrope lists 29 responses since November 18, one as recently as Thursday. That includes form rejections, personal rejections, and one acceptance. Recent responses were in the 190 day r...

Re: Analog Submissions

A friend on another website queried Analog recently. Their story was at ~150 days and Analog said it would be another 2-3 months. Which is about on target for what I expected when I sent mine in back in the beginning of September based on the sparse responses on duotrope and submission grinder. Who...

Re: Analog Submissions

"Speaking of which, given that the subject of this thread is Analog, does anyone know what the heck is going on there now?" I know how you feel. I re-read my story and imo it's really good. Since it's my first Analog sub, I'm not expecting an acceptance, but I'm excited to get this out th...

Re: Analog Submissions

I was still in until today. Got my rejection at noon Pacific Time. Oh well. I'll make a professional sale at some point, but getting so close and missing the mark is starting to get really frustrating. ;-) I'm sorry to hear that, Sean. I was hoping we'd both get in. Though I think Hayden is liberal...

Re: Analog Submissions

I'll have to think about it. "Commit" is the right word. Last time I agreed to review a novel, I dropped the ball. I got too busy. I don't like to fall through on commitments, so I'm trying to learn to commit to less. Over commitment is one of my bad habits, and I want to break it. I'd li...

Indeed. I have three stories sitting in the queue. In a few days I expect all three will be my longest submissions. wotf005 I just submitted my sixth, and was one day late. Re: Analog Submissions

I've now got 3. But the latest rumors I've heard is that multiple submitting like this is a bad idea, so now I don't know what to think. wotf017 I think it depends on the market & how far you space them out. At Analog's current rate you'd only be able to submit 1, possibly 2, stories a year--wh...

I currently have 5 in the queue right now. The oldest submission is at 138 days and the newest is at 19. I heard from a friend this week that Interzone is now taking e-subs. It's probably because they got a submission from E.CaimanSands that was really from me. They likely threw up their hands and said "OK, this is starting to get ridiculous. Screw it. We'll take email subs." wotf017 And I f...

Ah, thanks for that. I was tying myself in knots. This waiting drives me completely crazy. I write to keep myself occupied, but it has the unfortunate side effect of overstimulating my imagination. Turn that imagination into more stories. It's the only therapy we have. I would be lying if I said I ...

Re: Analog Submissions

I don't think any of us are helping him either. After Brad T. noted that he regularly submitted a new story to Analog every 30 days, I started doing the same. Now I have 4 stories in the queue. Otherwise, Analog would only see one or two stories from me a year, which means statistically, I might se...
