Re: beta reader for novel

Good morning, I might be able to help you. Would you mind first, telling me what you are looking for in a beta reader? And secondly, how quickly you are hoping to have it turned around? I hope to have a novel to the beta-reading stage in the next couple months and would like it if there's a bit of ...

Re: WotF33 Workshop & Gala

I won't be there even boy does Joni want me there. wotf007 We usually have two weekend trips per year-one to coast and one to the mountains. We missed the coast one this year. For half a hour I thought maybe we could go to the gala since we missed the one trip. But no. My wife retried this year and ...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q2 - Volume 34

Unless the story I sent to Flametree comes back in time, I may have a hard time making it in this quarter. I'd been procrastinating on editing, and then yesterday I ended up making a trip to the emergency room because of pain in my stomach and back (among other things). Long story short, I'm alrigh...

beta reader for novel

Just got finished revising a new novel and I decided to see about having a beta reader or three with this one. But all of a sudden I am having problems finding one much less three. Anyone here be able to read over a novel for me? Very close to 76,000 words. This is a steampunk tale set in our time. ...

Re: Using historical figures in a story

As has been stated this has been done a few times with good results. I am reading two series with all types of historical characters, one even has a couple of made up ones like Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. At the same time though do not follow the writers examples for both are on alt worlds. But I believ...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q3 - Volume 34

Oh yes of course Hmmm, as of right now I may try to redo an earlier story but I might be able to come up with something different-at least in setting. I need a new Science Fiction so I can later sent it to Asimov's and Analog but a true fantasy could be good. Been while since I have done one. One in...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - Volume 34

The Grinder suggests this was a big wave. If my count is correct more than half of the logged entries were rejected last week. Bearing in mind that The Grinder is only used by a relatively small proportion of entrants and all of them take their writing seriously, I'd guess LD is right in suggesting...

I have said this almost every quarter I think-after the first three with Dave. Or at least the first few rejections-may a large wa...

Your character would need deep pockets to get to an oil rig. We were evacuated anytime a hurricane entered the gulf. I'm not familiar with the bay by NO. I spent most of my time south of there. I wasn't think of a hurricane just a very bad rain storm. It came in further than the weathermen predicte...
