Re: Sci-Fi and Fantasy Books You Enjoy?

Is it immoral to bring up the novel i just published? TARNISH is a 128,000 word fantasy novel about a 16-year old venturing out into the real world with his head full of the legends of his father and mentor. Most of the story is about Wil, the young hero, though the old retired heroes (who don't qui...

Re: NEW USERS! INTRODUCE YOURSELVES!

Hello! My name is Jeremy (decided to write under "J. D. Brink" -- seems more eye-catching somehow) and I actually started on the forum during the long Q1 storm but never got here to intro myself. I've been in the Navy for a while now and would love to be able to do nothing but write and re...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

Mike Resnick is legend. He's won more awards for short fiction than any one. Ever. I think he holds the record for Hugo nominations too. This year's nomination is " The Homecoming " He's also one of the authors who judge the 8 finalists here in WotF. And he's got an advice column for writ...

As far as the contest goes, I believe I remember Brad saying the rights reverted upon publication. And Holly, I hadn't thought about the multiverse! Yes, we can all win. wotf053 That's correct, though they do ask that you request permission to republish as a courtesy. It's only a courtesy though. I...

First, and most important... I am not a lawyer. I am most especially not your lawyer. This is not legal advice, just my understanding of copyright. Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

JD, You may enter the story as often as you wish, but the consensus is not to as in theory you've moved on and written something better. However, at times, the story or the writer his/herself has grown sufficiently as to warrant a resubmission. MO Muriel won last year with a resub of a reworked rej...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

Jamie Farr's character, Maxwell Q. Klinger, started as a single episode joke. Like many a clever actor has done, Farr did his job well and then sold them on a recurring role. And being a Toledo native himself, he suggested back story for Klinger as a Toledoan with a strong affinity for his home tow...
