Re: Analog Submissions

I don't think any of us are helping him either. After Brad T. noted that he regularly submitted a new story to Analog every 30 days, I started doing the same. Now I have 4 stories in the queue. Otherwise, Analog would only see one or two stories from me a year, which means statistically, I might se...

Re: Penumbra Submissions

Neither have I any word on the fate of my gaslight story, submitted 30 July. The call for Gaslight ends August 31. Do you expect hear something before that? I know they used to respond after an initial scan, usually around the 2 week mark, but I don't know if they still do that. I submitted my Fami...

Re: Penumbra Submissions

Sent in my Gaslamp story. I had such good luck slipping under the word count for the family traditions issue, I tried & was pleasantly surprised to do so for the Gaslamp call. Glad to have joined the fun. Waiting on Penumbra feels like the teaser fights leading up to the main match (WotF).

Re: Penumbra Submissions

Well I did it! I decided to join the fun and submitted a story to the Family Traditions issue. I've tried to write to Penumbra's themes before but each time the word count spiraled out of control well past their word count. But not this time. wotf024

Re: Analog Submissions

It might be more productive at this point to skip Analog as a market until/if they get back on their feet. Or go into the submission knowing you've got a massive wait ahead of you. tor.com is at 70-80 days response & the pay is higher. Never thought I'd see when tor.com was a better option than...

No. They're between 60-80 days--still better than Analog though, which appears to have sped up to ~150 days recently.

Re: Five Minute Rant

Thanks preston! It's my first entry to Asimov. Other submission managers generally have: Recieved - in the inbox essentially In-progress - opened, out the envelope Rejected - usually in all caps & in red And another rumored category that I'll believe in when I see it. I'm afraid to mention it le...

Re: Five Minute Rant

Damn it -- 86 day form rejection from Asimov's grumble grumble grumble wotf23 Geez, Bob, that sucks. And this does not bode well for my story there, which is at 112 days and counting. I have yet to get a personal from them. Preston, when you log into their tracking system, does it say "Receive...

Re: Five Minute Rant

Can't find my post about the new guy at F&SF but it looks like that is his normal rejection. "I'm afraid the story didn't pan out as I had hoped". He must be expecting good writing on each new story. Seems like a silly question, but I submitted to F&SF for the first time recently ...
