Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

On a more boring note, just checked my email and I'm still in.

Are we taking a vote on whether or not to keep said reproductive appendage in or take it out? I'm thinking most people will vote to keep it in.

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

I hate to sound pessimistic, but the roll call of who hasn't been rejected yet is getting to be long enough that I fear final rejections are more and more likely in greater numbers than I had been hoping for. But then again NNINN (an attempt to abreaviate the "No News Is No News"). Think ...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

It does have the feel of the calm before the storm, doesn't it? *hums a few bars of Waltzing Matilda* Let's have a roll call then. Here are the folks I know are still in. If I miss your name, add it in and repost as I'm not always sure who's entered which quarter. Tina (gower21) Corbin Francis Brun...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

It's a little soon for finalist phone calls, isn't it? No one can precisely define "too soon", because of so many variables. No two quarters are exactly alike. But as a matter of historical record... It was a year ago Wednesday (give or take a day, since I didn't record the precise date) ...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29

Hmm, you know, the earlier times I had assumed Gus was calling the girl the monster. This probably says more about me than the writing, though. wotf001 Orginal post: I always interpreted that as exclamation points outside of dialogue. That is, it is okay for the characters to yell and be excited, b...

Consider: "Monster," shouted Gus. And he yanked her arm, dragging her down the street. Or: "Monster!" Gus grabbed her arm and yanked her down the street. [end-quote] Note how much more immediate the second one is. Faster. If I'm in danger, I'd want the second Gus saving me. My o...

@Patrick. Awesome. @Martin. That was ridiculously obscure. I got it tho. @Corbin. I prefer your 2nd example. Less words, and I'm not a fan of the," he said, then did something else - type of style. As for one or two ! even if in dialog, I would think that's character and story dependent. Use e...
