Thanks Martin. Publisher's word count is a pain, so I'm glad to see it go.

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q4 - Volume 34

Dead cat R for me.

I seem to have a negative correlation between expectations and results with this contest. The stories I know will be Rs, get HMs and the ones I think I hit out of the park get Rs. Oh well. Next quarter's story is in my opinion so so, so who knows?

Congrats to the HMs and Silvers.

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q4 - Volume 34

Eek. All of our stories are like Schrodinger's cat, simultaneously rejected and in that sainted pile at the same time. Until Thursday when the box is opened and we find... another dead cat (the expected value in this experiment).

Never. But they do get older and less energetic the more you submit. The first submission is the hardest, so congratulations on making that first leap.

wotf013 And I've actually sold another story but I can't say where as yet. Which is that my story 'Conspiracy of Silence' will be appearing in 'More Alternative Truths' due out on 11/11. Sometime in 2015, just after I'd sold 'The Old Man on the Green' to T Gene Davis, a reader actually enquired whe...

Re: Success!

I usually have between 10 and 15 stories out at a time. My most rejected story is currently at 30. My best story sold first time out. I've had stories sell after 20 rejections (although at nominal rates). I rarely revise, not because I believe my stories are perfect, but because I'd rather use my li...

Let's be honest, either one would be awesome. I like (b) better though. I don't mind writing being a side gig, but giving my stories immortality, that would be truly special.

Re: What's a Silver Honorable Mention as opposed to a regular HM?

I think this is good encouragement for all of us, especially if you've sold some things, that we should be writing with publication in mind, instead of the "well, I'm just not there yet," mindset. Exactly. wotf007 wotf010 I guarantee that part of the reason I haven't sold any of my WotF s...

Re: What's a Silver Honorable Mention as opposed to a regular HM?

Even Rs can be publishable. I've sold 3 out of 5 Rs so far, and only 1 out of 5 HMs.
I do feel my HMs are better than my Rs in general, so it is just a matter of market really.

You and me, Stephanie. Four entries in 35! I may have only one in all of 34. That's not good... I've been obsessed with political stuff for over a year and it's killed my creativity. Real life is an unwelcome balm to the fire of the muse. Once I work out how to stop obsessively checking the news ea...
