Re: Analog Submissions

Submission Grinder is now listing one at 182 days and another at 175 days. As mine is at 178, I expect word any time now. And every minute that I don't hear anything will be made up of me being convinced that Analog will be the first market to recognize my genius and publish me and make me a househo...

Re: Five Minute Rant

I've got that same story at Daily Science Fiction as well. Who knows how that's going to work out. The more I read of what they publish, the less it reads like the kind of stuff I write. Or like to read, for that matter. Still, we'll see what we see. wotf007

Re: Five Minute Rant

Possibly not. They have to get a lot of submissions, and they reject pretty quickly, so I suspect they start it off, and if it doesn't grab him, it's gone.

All the more reason to make it work in the first couple of paragraphs wotf007

Re: Penumbra Submissions

I started thinking about it, and I've got a story out at Daily Science Fiction that would actually qualify as an "isolation" story. I'd just have to cut off about 700 words to make it work. Unfortunately, it just went in over there, so I'm not particularly sure when it'll get a response. I...

I've got a couple of ideas for isolation. Might have to get cracking on that after I finish my current WIP. What's the worst that can happen? It's not like I'm unused to the word "no" wotf007

Re: Analog Submissions

Yes, it sucks to wait, but typically the longer the wait, the better shot you have at acceptance. On the flip side, if you get rejected after the better part of a year, it still sucks. Especially since you start to think your story is just that much closer to acceptance. Which is why I'm not gettin...

Re: Analog Submissions

Oh, I'm sure I'm fairly well off compared to others. Unfortunately, this is one of only two stories I have that I feel are the least bit publishable. The other one is working through the system now. I'm leaving Analog for last, since that is where manuscripts go to die apparently wotf007

I've only got one thing over at Analog, but it's not at 166 days. Honestly, this is driving me up the freaking WALL! I hate waiting this long, especially on a story I really do feel pretty good about. At this point, I almost welcome a rejection.

Analog: Where submissions go to die.

Hence forth, anything I submit to Analog will be something that got rejected most other places. I hate sitting here for months, waiting for a yes or no, especially when there are other markets that don't have nearly as long a wait.

I sit down with my laptop in my...well...lap, and just type. The key thing is, I need music blaring in my ears. I'm ADHD, so I need something else to hear besides the voices in my head, but I also need to drown out all of the other stimuli that bounces around my house. In fact, I'm really needing to...

Re: Harlan Ellison -- Pay the Writer

What he's saying isn't really unique to writers. I know a lot of musicians who have a problem finding places to play and get paid. So many places are only offering "exposure". Kind of sounds like the boat writers find themselves in, and even then it's not just fiction. My other writing is ...

Re: Analog Submissions

My first submission there took almost 11 months to get my rejection. In their que for nearly 230 days. And it wasn't even a personal. I think there are several strategies to this. One, you have to decide what order and where you'll submit based on several factors. How many stories do you produce in...

Re: Analog Submissions

FWIW, I'm at 58 days for my Analog submission. Of course, I'm 99% sure they'll reject it (it's a post apocalyptic with nothing to really peg it as SF except for the post apocalyptic setting). I would have withdrawn it, but was worried that it might come across worse than just leaving it. Not that I ...

Re: NEW USERS! INTRODUCE YOURSELVES!

Hi all. Obviously, I'm new here. I'm a life long science fiction and fantasy fiction fan, and have tried off and on to write it. I write constantly, but a lot of it is non fiction, but I still want to write fiction full time (or most of the time at least). I've submitted, and been rejected, from mos...
