Re: Jibber Jabber - Q4 - Volume 34

With what I was working on for Q4 being (not-quite-but-close-to) hopelessly broken. I took this inspiration and rather than skip this quarter, got something in that feels not too shabby. And that gives me enough time to fix what's wrong with the other one. Fantastic! That's the reason I put in my Q...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q4 - Volume 34

Good going! If we're writing, we've got trunk stories. Let Dave be the judge. If you don't have a story in, there's no way you can win. Yeah, so, that Q3 finalist I just had? Trunk story. Well, not quite, but "story I haven't touched in a year, pulled out and polished up" counts, right?

I have one brewing, which may be too damn dark for WotF, but it must be exorcised from my brain.
Probably for Q1...

Did you read V32/33? IMO there were a number of "dark" pieces in both...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - Volume 35

Oh, my. Not ready for this yet. But it's going to sneak up on us before we know it, and November is awful for me, so... hmm. Once my Q4 is in, guess it's time to start plotting...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q3 - Volume 34

Winners announced ! And the first place winner represents something of a first AFAIK--she's married to a former winner, Eric James Stone. We're usually joking when we say WotF is like a family... This is completely amazing and got me over any little funk I might have been in about Q3. And made me i...

If you can make finalist once, you can make it five times. That's my goal.

I didn't win. This time. There's another quarter coming up in three weeks. Looking forward to Joni's next call.

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q3 - Volume 34

Thanks for all the congrats, guys! Glad I've got Kristy and Peony here twitching with me. Good luck with the next phone call, and with getting anything done at all in the next month! Hey, not to contradict Matt because he's awesome but the one thing I'd urge Kristy and Peony - and everyone else - is...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q3 - Volume 34

Subbed, for the first time in a year. Not with the awesome story I got stuck writing halfway through, or the less awesome story I got incredible feedback that I can't execute on yet, but with something I've had and thought I couldn't use because [reasons]. I pulled it back out and addressed those re...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q3 - Volume 34

I have an amazing idea. Wrote the first scene and it's awful. But some brainstorming last night gave me an inspiration and I think I know how to rewrite it completely.

This will be my first entry in three quarters. Ready to get back in the game.

The "small announcement" is posted now. And somehow I feel this thread is the perfect place for such a wacky revelation. wotf004 Of course Gator is beginning to regret mentioning it, as she's starting to realize the full implications... https://ecaimansands.com/2016/06/09/a-small-announce...

Re: Story Titling

Honestly I doubt it makes that much of a difference. If it's exceptionally derivative ("The Starving Games", "The Boss of The Bracelets") you might get an eyeroll. I'm a fan of short titles if possible, one or two words that describe the story briefly. My last finalist I titled w...
