Have fun! Which you will no doubt have. Thanks for the Ken Rand book recommendation. The 10% solution is something Stephen King talks about in his On Writing book too.

Re: Moon's SUPER SECRET Bonus Challenge! Vol. 36

As for try/fail cycles, yes, that's coming. As in many things in life, there is a Rule of Three here as well. But you can jump ahead by getting his book. WRITING TO THE POINT. While here, I might mention Critters Readers' Poll is going on until Jan 14 for favorite stories of 2018. I might also ment...

Re: Moon's SUPER SECRET Bonus Challenge! Vol. 36

Thanks for all these great tips Wulf. Wondering if you could answer this question. And I apologize in advance if you planned this as an upcoming topic. Farland talks about try/fail cycles and that in a novel your protagonist should go through three attempts before succeeding. Does this rule apply to...

Re: Discussion: Q2, Volume 36

This quarter will be a challenge for me. Going for my second knee replacement on January 23rd. So I really need to get a draft done before then as I know from the previous experience - writing will be out of the question for the following 4 weeks.

Have an idea. Fleshing it out now.

Re: Moon's SUPER SECRET Bonus Challenge! Vol. 36

We need to put our butt in the chair, fingers on the keyboard, and capture every word of drama our subconscious is sending up...

Hi all! Been away for awhile - did several writing courses this year to hopefully up my game. Just submitted a fresh Q1 entry, decided to check out the forum, and this thread caught my eye. This challenge is perfect! It perfectly aligns with my personal WOTF goal to submit a new story each quarter!!...

Harlan Ellison is one of the few short story writers I'm aware of who made a go of it besides Bradbury.

He did have his fingers in a lot of other pies though.
