That was fast!

I did a resubmit after editing for this quarter's entry, so curious it will fare better than it's HM.

So, twitching has begun. wotf015

Re: Success!

Congratulations to Emily, George, Philip, and HL. Hooray for successes! I have a new one to report, too. Simple Things , a sci-fi flash, out today in Nature Magazine's Futures feature. This is my third appearance in Nature, and it's always such a cool feeling. I'm in a science journal! How in the h...

Re: Almost Success - The "Mixed Feelings" Thread

It's been a long time since I posted to this thread, but I feel that I must. Editor's telling me that he enjoyed my story, it held his attention right up to the end, and he goes on to say that it was his favorite for the week. He doesn't buy it, though. (sigh) Give me form acceptances, any time. Sh...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - Volume 34

Finally sat down and wrote a story I've been meaning to write since August. A little over 1400, all today. I've submitted it to my Writer's Group for Critique at the end of the month. I'll definitely be submitting it for this Quarter. wotf024

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - Volume 34

I should have a story ready by November for Q1. Research partially done. Now to get to it!!!! Hmmm maybe, I'll do some writing while I'm manning the ConDor table at San Diego Who Con tomorrow. Plus, I'm submitting it for critique to my Writer's Group for our October meeting so I have to have it writ...

On a more cheery note: I WAS ON A PANEL WITH DAVE YESTERDAY!!!! I put myself down on the romance panel at Conflux. I didn't expect to get on it, there must not have been a great deal of interest from more qualified parties. Imagine my surprise and delight to see Dave arrive and sit near me! I will ...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q4 - Volume 33

Well, I'm in. Had a story idea that I started in the last week, but then I looked back at a story that I wrote last December for Dean and Kris' anthology workshop that I ended up not going to because of changing Navy schedules (did I mention I'm very ready to retire? 1 June 2017 baby. wotf011 ). Does Anyone Have Advice on Marketing A Self-Published Book?

I've tried contacting reviewers who review indy published books. I boosted my Facebook Writer's Page, I have a Twitter account, and I've paid Book Daily for some marketing. It seems most places are out of price reach.

Re: Tout your Kindle and E-Publishing!

Ok, I took a big leap last week. After my Novelette exhausted all markets I could find for it, and noticing that Novelettes are sold by themselves as eBooks, I went ahead and self-published it. It has grown about 3000 words since it's earlier incarnation and grown a subtitle, as I've decided I'll do...

I have to get started on mine. I'm writing a story based of a friend's song. It won't include the lyrics and I have her permission. She just sent me the lyrics so I can refer to them for story points.

Looks like F&SF is about 3 days, which is awesome.

Seems like Clarkesworld has a similar submission system.

Clarkeworld also responds in about 3 days.
