Re: Cover Letters on Paid Market Submissions

I was advised to mention I'm a new writer by an editor of a well known pro publication, despite the fact I've been writing on and off for around 10 years (otherwise my template is almost identical to the examples above), but I'm not sure whether to include that any more. I've been submitting regula...

Anyone else think that must be an erroneous entry? Nothing in the results thread.

I figure it might be erroneous, yeah. A Q2 that accidentally got marked as a Q3, maybe?

Re: Discussion: Q2, Volume 36

My Q2 did not in fact end up selling yet, but I've gotten personals from both places I've sent it after WotF so far (Diabolical Plots and F&SF). Gonna keep making the rounds.

Re: Almost Success - The "Mixed Feelings" Thread

My own story which had been held for consideration by Diabolical Plots unfortunately just got a rejection. Same. It's all good, though. They liked my setting and some of the twists I threw into my story. On to F&SF! (It's usually my first market I sub to after WotF, but they were closed for sub...

Any other semi-finalists waiting on their critique or is it just me? Joni's email said it would be a couple days but it's been almost three weeks now and not sure if she's just insanely busy or if something fell through the cracks between her email and mine. I tried following up and no response but...

Thanks - I've read Dave's article on turning HMs into winners, but yeah - maybe I shouldn't over analyse it too much for risk of my head exploding. I completely agree about writing stories that interest you. I've only written one story I didn't like and haven't submitted it anywhere as I don't want...

As it's completely different to anything else I've written, and I don't know how I wrote it, I don't know where to go from here. My honest recommendation is to write stories that interest you. Polish them, yes, but don't waste time trying to guess what a particular market will and won't want (aside...

Re: Discussion: Q2, Volume 36

I would like to state, for the record, that my HM from this quarter is currently being held for further consideration by the first place I sent it after WotF. No edits were made. The story may not sell, but I still feel this is proof of concept regarding the current conversation. Every market has un...
