Re: What are the best ways for a finalist to start their car

Oh, yes, yes, yes! We should make that a challenge! wotf022

You're on. By next Sunday, July 17? Or maybe we should wait to set the deadline until after some of the others learn if it. wotf002

Re: Story Titling

Dave thinks titles are important. KD Wentworth and Robert Sawyer (Finalist judge) didn't even read them. So it depends on the judge/ editor. This thread shows all the different ways we come up with ideas. But I'm in awe of those of you who, once certain elements are in place you get a rush of ideas....

Hello Randy, and welcome. I agree with Martin and Kary and the others-- life experience counts towards your millon word apprenticeship. Old farts rock!

And I believe Carl Frederick was in his mid 60's when he won.

Semi-Finalist for me. This gives me the triple crown of critiques; I've had them from Algis Budrys and KD Wentworth, and now will have one from Dave Wolverton :) I'll need to write a post about their differing critiquing styles.

And, congrats to Michael W for his Finalist!

I'm not keen on limiting us to only one topic, but I also don't know how you would keep multiple topics from becoming too unmanageable. Maybe you could give us a few topics and their guide words, such as Submitting, Work Habits, Characterization. (I'm not suggesting these topics, though they would b...
