Re: Discussion: Q3 Volume 37

I have to say, I admire the tenacity of some of you. This is the 4th time I've entered and I'v felt good about each story that I've submitted beforehand, and nothing. Each has been read and critiqued by good writers, none of which are related to me :o). Hope springs eternal and so I've entered agai...

But it sounds like something we could test in the troubleshooting area. Then we'll know for sure.

Ok, but where is the troubleshooting area?

Re: Discussion: Q3 Volume 37

Editing your posts can change the words shown in the responses Honestly, I don't think it does? It will change for people who try to quote it after changes have been made, but not for quotes made beforehand. People can edit their posts to alter or delete the quotes, though. Hmm, but I've tried it b...

Re: Discussion: Q3 Volume 37

Best to remove story identifying information. Judges have been known to browse forum, and you don't want to risk getting disqualified. Thanks for the advice. I removed the original post, but it won't affect the responses with my original words. I guess I'll hope they don"t recognize the story ...

Good luck, RSchibler :)

So here's a funny thing: I began working on my draft for Q3 as soon as I submitted my Q2 entry. I kept working on it until May 18th, and then I got distracted by other stuff. But now I’m starting to worry about whether I have enough time to revise it again...

Hey guys. How are you doing? Hope y'all doing fine. Can I ask a question? I'm new here. I'm an aspiring writer. I've recently found out about this contest and I'd like to participate in it. I've got one question though. Is it allowed for a non-native English speaker to take part in this contest? Th...

Hermione, I am definitely not the first PF to win the contest later. But I am the first in a long time. Eric James Stone and Floris (can’t recall his last name) were both PFs and then winners the following year about fifteen years ago. They were the last before me. Remember when you are PF you are ...

Re: Number of Published Finalists

Hermoine, I don't know if the 4th place finishers are the PF, but I don't think they consider final placement / rank when filling out the volume. They'll go by story length or shoring up a weakness (needs more fantasy, choose a fantasy story). That said, my first finalist was 4th place. Joni told m...

Re: Discussion: Q3 Volume 37

I think that we can create a new discussion thread to talk about the winning stories in the past few anthologies, and try to figure out what the judges liked about those stories. Who is your main character? The one in the most pain. Why tell this story? It's the biggest event in the character's life. What happens?
