Re: Mike Resnick's "Ask Bwana" columns

FYI, as noted on the other thread, Mike's final, original ASK BWANA went live today:

http://mikeresnick.com/?p=1467

Several WOTF entrants have written me new questions, though, and Mike's been game to engage them, so we might get some brand new BWANA in the not too distant future!

Re: Ask Bwana - yes, ask him!

With the posting of Ask Bwana #59, we've officially reached the end of the original Bwana articles: http://mikeresnick.com/?cat=10 However, many of you have e-mailed me questions which I've forwarded on to Mike, and which he's been gracious enough to entertain, so we might get one or two new Bwana a...

Re: Mike Resnick launches 2 new markets

Stellar Guild and Galaxy's Edge are not necessarily "markets" in the sense that they'll take unsolicited material. If Mike wants material from you for either of these, he will ask. If he doesn't ask . . .

Re: Brad's in Analog AGAIN...

My answer: When I was trying to win Writers of the Future, the best homework I ever did was to a) read past volumes of the Contest anthology so that I could b) tailor my entries to have a better chance of winning. When I submitted just any old story to WOTF I got HMs. When I began writing stories wi...

Re: Brad's in Analog AGAIN...

Received payment today for my latest Analog sale. Four digits to the left of the decimal. I have a tradition of keeping my largest writing paycheck pinned on my cork board over my writing desk. As a reminder: this writing thing? It can pay pretty decently.

Re: Brad's in Analog AGAIN...

Martin has it: there is no replacement for WANTING IT. if you WANT IT, then a thousand rejections will not stop you. Just ask Kevin J. Anderson. If you do not want it . . . there are far less time-consuming and easier ways to make money, or have fun. Or both. Being a pro writer requires a peculiar k...

Martin, you really don't have to do this.

But thank you. And thank you, everybody. Just let it be a reminder to all who are still trying to win the Contest: nice things happen for those who never give up!

Re: Brad's in Analog AGAIN...

Thank you Martin for the kind mention. Yep. Winning the Contest certainly launched my career into high gear. From zero to 90 if you catch my drift. Not every winner gets after it. But then again I think how much you make out of the win -- how much you succeed following the Contest -- depends greatly...

Wow, chirping crickets.

OK, didn't mean to spook you all.

If you can avoid repeating a question, that's great. And if you have more than one question, that's cool. Just don't run off 20 or 30 of them at a time, OK?

Ask Bwana - yes, ask him!

Okay folks. Mike Resnick's getting ready to wrap up the famous "Ask Bwana" articles. All original 59 of them will have been posted to his blog by the end of 2012. But I had the idea to ask Mike if he'd mind doing a Bwana # 60 for us, for the end of the year, and he's agreed. http://mikeres...

The amazement is that Ender's Game (the published novel) is almost 30 years old, and it still manages to pop up on the NYT bestseller list with routine predictability. It has been through how many different printings, with how many different covers, and in how many different languages? This to my mi...

Seriously, Preston, you have no idea how quasi-legendary TOPANGA CANYON has become, thanks to Kris and Dean and some of the other editors from back in the day.
