Just to be clear, being a finalist doesn't mean you place or win. Eight finalists are chosen each quarter by the coordinating judge, and three of these are then chosen as winners (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place) for the quarter by the judge panel (usually pro writers.) Once you make it to these top 3 spot...

You can be a Finalist multiple times. If you're a Finalist, your story may be selected for publication. You can only go on to win once ever, period. Their reasons have differed, but every single one of them chose A. B was my design. A was designed by my nephew, who's a cover designer for a local pub...

wotf019 Finally got my rejection from IGMS at 93 days. When I queried yesterday I was told it was being considered by an assistant editor (rather than, say, the editor), so no surprise that it's a form.

But since I'm also not a fan of smilies or flashing images, I have them turned off in my user display options (Board preferences - Edit display options). So they just appear as img. And if I really want to see what all the buzz is about, I look at thread without being signed in. So... solution? You...

I scroll my screen so that those animated images aren't visible. The movement makes it basically impossible for me to read any text, and I've lost more than a few minutes staring at the guy playing chicken with a tank. This is just a data point.
