Re: Q1 Volume 29

Eventually, results are posted here. If you haven't heard back from them after any quarter, and your name isn't on the honorable mention lists at the blog, I agree with Martin that you should query your most recent entry that is greater than 3 months old.

Re: Cover Workshop

Speaking of romance novels, the link below has the story of one of my favorite novel cover stories ever. It's a romance novel cover that features a heroine with THREE hands (not intentionally). The blog post by the author on the subject is a great read, too. http://christinadodd.com/castles.html At...

If you want to read someone newer who writes awesome prose, my fellow Clarionaut Brooke Bolander pretty much blows the socks off her prose. She's fresh out of Clarion and has already sold stories to Strange Horizons and Lightspeed/Fantasy. You can read one of her Clarion stories here: http://www.li...

One past forum member that sticks out in my mind is Gwen Clair--her story I think that was either in Clarksworld or Daily about the artist using her/his (can't remember) own blood to paint pictures with more emotion...it was incredibly beautifully written and a great story too. "Iron Oxide Red...

Re: "Beautiful" Prose

I'm thinking of posting excerpts of what strikes me as elegant writing in some of the stories I suggested. That might help us figure out if we all mean something similar or something completely different when we speak of "beautiful prose." I doubt we'll come to a consensus, but I would be...

Hmm. Who else who writes spec fic? It doesn't have to be spec fic. If you want to write beautiful prose, I don't know that I want to learn how to write it, so much as I am trying to find some way to qualify it. I'm thinking that since "beautiful" is subjective, beautiful prose can't be qu...

"Beautiful" Prose

I keep hearing discussions about how some successful authors (who I've read) don't write "beautiful" prose. Also keep catching discussions about people who wrote stunning prose . . . And I've never read them. I'm making a read-list of writers who produced this amazingly beautiful, breath-t...

This may have been answered elsewhere, but I've not seen it. I submitted for quarter one, but I've yet to hear anything. Can I go ahead and submit for q2? Duotrope Equivalent for Art?

Is there a website that does market listings for art? For instance, IGMS commissions original art and pays $400 for cover illustration and $200 for interior [I'm assuming that's a pro rate for art?]. What about other markets that take art? Reprints? Buy only preexisting art, or take commissions? How...
