Re: Q1 Volume 29

Growing up, I read comics and magazines that my brother bought; and at that time, Cracked was always a sad, lame Mad wannabe. How they went from there to being the Evil Humor Overlords continues to amaze me. I hate to quibble, but I wouldn't it the same product. It's a new and separate endeavor tha...

Re: Q1 Volume 29

For those that haven't been over to KD's forum recently, here's an interesting take and its response: Hi, all. I've lurked in this forum for a long time. This is my first post, but will also likely be my last. After this, I don't think I'll have much else to say. I've been entering the contest nearl...

As I said, you never know who's watching. I've received congratulatory emails and texts from a couple of people I didn't expect.

Re: Videos&Art to inspire SF / FANTASY ideas? Post YOURS ?!

One thing I love is old fashioned SF art - 30s through to 60s. It reminds me of the books I read in my youth, and the ideas we had then of spacetravel. I found these links on a friend's blogpage, and thought I'd share them here. http://www.darkroastedblend.com/2007/11/retro-future-to-stars.html http...

Re: Favorite Medium?

.. but probably definitely the market appreciates the digital and the modern-vibe (basically, I suppose SCI-FI wants futuristic vibes and FANTASY can luv on a more gothic/primitivist/handwrought art vibe)? What's interesting, from a reader's viewpoint, is that it's exactly that 'futuristic vibe' in...

Re: Favorite Medium?

I'm not really into psychics, but I guess my favourite medium would be those psychic twins I saw on TV last week. ;)

Steve
TV is a medium, cos it's neither rare nor well done.....

There are at least three of us here that are on the TOC (Dame, Patty and myself) and at least two WOTF winners (Patty and Cat Sparks)
Steve

Make that 3 WOTF winners - I just noticed Jason Fischer

Re: Success!

Hey Patty - I just saw you on the TOC for the Anywhere But Earth antho. I have a story there, too. It was accepted months and months ago - seems like I've been waiting forever - and there is still near on a year until it's published. I also made it into Anywhere but Earth. (with a WOTF reject - sli...

Re: Success!

With the e-pub world taking off as it is, I don't see a reason to ever trunk a story. I kind of look at the Pro and Semi markets as a filter. And personally, I've set that as my benchmark. I've read some of the writers who publish everything they write - and I've stopped. The quality varies greatly...

I haven't seen the remake of The Prisoner yet - but I'm not holding my breath. I just have a feeling they won't capture the right feeling. I tried to like Lost and Flash Forward. I felt they were both average. I am, however, currently reading Flash Forward (the Sawyer novel) and loving it. I enjoyed...

More good news for me, one week after my first sale, I got a second sale, this one to the Shadows of the Emerald City anthology, a collection of horror stories related to the Wizard of Oz. My good friend Frank Dutkiewicz (often known in forum-space as Snapper) also made it into the same anthology, ...

And congrats on the sale, steffen.

I'm waiting to hear from one market in particular. Made the second round of readings with my Q1 reject. Should hear a decision this week. (Mind you, I thought that last week too! lol)

I just read WOTF Vol 13

The Winds by Heidi Stallman

quotes a few lines from a poem by Robert Burns.

I presume Public Domain comes into play....

For what it's worth
