Re: NEW USERS! INTRODUCE YOURSELVES!

Welcome to all the newcomers, Storysinger, Karen, Erin, and Ariel. (and anyone else I may have missed) This a fantastic place to come and learn and to share. I joined back in 2008, and several of us have been here since around that time. (A few even earlier). Don't ever feel intimidated. There is a r...

Re: Galaxy''s Edge

Are you reading Galaxy's Edge?

If not, why not.

Have you read Tina's story, 'Today I Am Nobody'?

If not, you should. It's superb.

Re: Analog Submissions

While I don't actually know what's happening at Analog, it certainly seems like a bit of a mess. Stan gave up the reins a year ago - response times have ballooned out, and very few rejections/acceptances are being recorded at the grinder. I haven't subbed there in almost a year, and I have no plans ...

Re: Success!

Oh and um I've had a sale: my short story How Cherry Coke Saved My Life to Nature's Futures. My story, The Filigreed Cage is up today at Fireside . Happy to announce that I've sold another story. It will be appearing in Aurora Wolf Journal. It's my fourth official sale. I obviously don't visit this...

Re: Success!

A bit of dancing around the plush writing studio here at Chateau Cameron with a few small wins. I've sold six stories so far this year, none of them pro - but we're getting there. The Year's Best Australian Fantasy and Horror (2012) recommended reading list was announced yesterday, and I'm thrilled ...

Re: NEW USERS! INTRODUCE YOURSELVES!

Welcome aboard, Flexi. I'm also in Australia. Melbourne, in fact. Any chance we'll see you at continuum next weekend? Don't get overly concerned about the HM, reject thing. The contest, like any other market, is a matter of taste, so while those that get awards deserv them, hey do occasionally miss ...

Re: Success!

Congrats, Elinor. I'll find some time to read it.

Cosmos is a good market. I know the fiction editor, Cat Sparks. She's an excellent writer. Her own collection has just been released by Ticonderoga.

By SF I meant speculative fiction. Anywhoo, here's the first book website http://www.firstbook.org/ I thought it was that but they still need an explanation on the fund raising site. There is. You must have missed it, LD. :) What is First Book? First Book is a non-profit organization working to pro...

An excellent week here at Chateau Cameron. Probably the best week in writing I've had in more than six months. A personal rejection from Asimov's and a personal rejection from Analog (my first). I was shortlisted for a Ditmar award (An Australian SF award) - Best New Talent. My second year running....
