Re: Just out of curiousity...

I have no idea what kind of story it illustrates though. Man struggling against his nature? Man is sent to hell? Man tormented by visions of terror and unearthly creatures? Thanks for the kind comment re my art! I was honoured to illustrate WOTF winning writer Patty Jansen's story " THIS PEACE...

I like images. I like animated gifs. I liked coloured font but gave that up. I'm glad there is an easy fix to avoiding gifs ... because limiting free speech or others' options to self-expression is a fix, born of principle, that does not weigh easy upon me, personally speaking. http://www.carolynjou...

Well, too many people are seeing something off for it not to be off! So I'll tweak it ... maybe the rim of the spacesuit neck it too distinct of a cut off point (originally, the fire was supposed to be pouring up from OUT OF her suit, then I added the robot), I'll see if I can have the flames start ...

Movie ARGO based on CIA's ruse using Zelazny's LORD OF LIGHT

Here's a cool article about the sci-fi genre connections to the CIA's Iranian Hostage rescur plot (upon which new move ARGO is based): All they needed now was a film — and Chambers had the perfect script. Months before, he had received a call from a would-be producer named Barry Geller. Geller had p...

I used to do henna temporary tattoos on friends, and maybe that's prejudicing me, it just sort of hit me as a henna design more than a magical or ritual symbol? But I've already 'fessed up to knowing little about Vodoun. So maybe it's just me. http://www.rosemaryi.com/grphx/henna/hennasimple.jpg

Martin, I'd have to say the symbol really doesn't say "voodoo" to me, no. It's clearly not Seal of Solomon-esque or y'know, western-tradition Alchemist sort etc ... but to many (most?) it might just seem decorative rather than voodoo? (I say voodoo because that's the level of common mainst...

Re: Has the line between sci fi and fantasy changed?

It's all marketing nomenclature. You just write the best story you can and let the publisher worry about what to call it. I am considered and labeled a science fiction writer, amd have written a total of 4 novels that have been marketed as fantasy -- yet I doubt that I've had 5 serious science-fict...
