Re: Loading an avatar picture

Ha, my parents got my name from The Thorn Birds. Although, to save people headaches, they decided to leave off the extra "n" (Meghann). Wow, people are so inspired by the books they read, they name their kids after characters! We fiction writers hold a high place of honor in society wotf00...

Re: Loading an avatar picture

That's the frustrating part. I've got image editing software. Got the avatar shrunk well past the 100X100 so it can also fit into the required 6.00K limit. (I think it's at something like 76X77, 5.9somethingK). The url function simply wont link, not even from my FB <more grrrrrrr>. Although, the sli...

Re: Loading an avatar picture

Okay, it's official, I'm at the --> wotf027 too. I did the imageshack thing. They even give you several versions of the url you can hotlink to. Even knowing the very dimensions of the avatar I want to use, knowing it fits in the dimensions and size limitations, nothing is working, and I don't want t...

Re: Kevin J. Anderson - How to Increase your Productivity

Thank god for advice from the pros. Yeah, Kevin is awesome. And pretty funny, too. When I first met him at the workshop last year (I was an illustrator winner then, mind you), before I even introduced myself, he, lol, knew who I was and proceeded to give me a litany of my entire back story, includin...

@ Scott: Amen, and again . . . Amen wotf008 And it's not all laziness or the inability to afford good art. Some people just don't have very good taste, or can't separate themselves enough from their own art to gauge its quality objectively. That's why in the publishing houses art is its own departme...

Re: Q1 Volume 29

I think cover art is more important than ever. Amen. Depending on how you look at that, its either totally awesome or sad but true wotf008 . Admittedly, I here am guilty as charged for buying pi$$-poor novels, because of their spectacular cover art. My mid-grade novel, The Land of OCKT and the Adve...

Don't worry, I'm responding specifically to the reply made to gwasch about half of being a storyteller is serving an audience. Because it's true. No matter how good a writer you are, if you're only writing for yourself and your tastes, that's awesome. You may or may not reach an audience that way, t...

çc Half of being a storyteller is serving an audience. <3 I think all of being a good storyteller is telling a good story and then you need to be or know someone who is a good marketer to find an audience. I have thus far had very limited success in the latter. Okay, this bothers me. Hate to be the ...

Annie has every right to vent her heart out here, and I totally understand it, because I was just there--albeit, she has more entries than myself wotf011 . Nobody's born with the Magic Writer Gene. Everyone who wants to write has to put in the time to learn how. Scientists are just less likely to spend their time on that.
