Re: Chicon 7

Can we crash your lunch? :D

And I'm good with dinner... though I suppose I should give someone my real name or phone number in case plans change at the last minute? I don't think I'll be taking my laptop with me...

Meet up suggestion: I think a lot of us may be attending the "85. Short Story As Testing Ground" panel? It might be a good idea to meet right after. We can either grab some grub or get on the buses to the planetarium... Or someone come up with something better. :D ETA: That would be Thursd...

Here's the full itinerary I'm shooting for: http://kanearts.net/wordpress/2012/08/16/my-chicon-7-schedule/ My schedule looked kind of like that, and then my friends told me - you CAN'T do it all or you'll make yourself sick. Just a suggestion? Mark highlight the ones you ABSOLUTELY want to go to. T...

Re: Story in a Day Challenge

Another good way to do a story in a day (presuming you don't know what you want to write, yet) is to sit down and read a short story you've never read before (preferably a professionally published one from a venue you like) and read it for feeling . When you're done, tell yourself: I'm going to wri...

Found it! http://www.seventhsanctum.com/index-writ.php If you go to the story one, you'll get something like this: This is a crime drama. The story is about a spendthrift outlaw who must work with an astrologer. It takes place in a university in a rocky commonwealth. The critical element of the stor...

This is a great challenge! My other writing community does this challenge every May, and we are encouraged to use prompts to get the stories a jump start. Are you starting from scratch? If you're interested in some of the prompts we used, I can dig them up when I get home tonight. I love this challe...

Re: Five Minute Rant

I'm too tired. Tired of the rejections that mean nothing, tired of the same old stories going through the revolving door. I want to write something new and exciting that someone will be fighting to buy from me. I'm tired of feeling like my short stories are sub par. I know my novels are my strenghts...

Re: Chicon 7

The autograph sessions are listed by number (location on the far left side of the page).

The session numbers refer to the list of authors at the bottom of the sheet. Look slightly up in the same column and you'll find the time/author slot.

Dinner Meat-up, you're funny. I've gone over this thing and I'd like to attend stuff nearly constantly 9am - 7pm. I'm about an hour away and will be taking the train in during the day on Thursday.

If you're going to walk around the city, bring good walking shoes. The architecture and scenery is really lovely and you'll find yourself a long way from the hotel with aching feet... ;)

The suite depends on having partners to share the cost. If I get no takers, we'll be watching Hudson Hawk in a tiny room in the overflow hotel.

You'll find someone, I'm sure. There are enough people going to this thing.

Um, yeah. Wow. Anybody else now wanting to go switching around paragraph order to see if it works for them, too? I always do in my revisions. New scenes, new topics, whatever. The first part is like I'm warming up,l then I get to the good stuff. So the second always becomes the first. Funny that; I...
