Re: Almost Success - The "Mixed Feelings" Thread

Received my 25th rejection yesterday. In 8 months and 8 stories, I've received 2 personal rejections and a second-round email. I think I'm okay with this - in a sense - but you know, it wouldn't hurt to hear better news. ... onward. It'll come, just keep working on it. Just keep swimming swimming s...

Re: Chicon 7

Friday still wouldn't work for Martin. And I've got committments on Saturday/Sun/Monday at 9am. What about dinner? - Friday night 730pm? - Saturday night dinner? 6pm? If we can't get one time to work with everyone, we could always have two times open so that everyone gets included in at least one. L...

Re: Chicon 7

Don't feel like an idiot. I know about it too, but since everyone knows me under my maiden/writing name, no one knows my real name except for a select few.

Can we crash your lunch? :D And I'm good with dinner... though I suppose I should give someone my real name or phone number in case plans change at the last minute? I don't think I'll be taking my laptop with me... In a way, you already have crashed my lunch. I plan to politely inquire about my 300...

Meet up suggestion: I think a lot of us may be attending the "85. Short Story As Testing Ground" panel? It might be a good idea to meet right after. We can either grab some grub or get on the buses to the planetarium... Or someone come up with something better. :D ETA: That would be Thursd...

Here's the full itinerary I'm shooting for: http://kanearts.net/wordpress/2012/08/16/my-chicon-7-schedule/ My schedule looked kind of like that, and then my friends told me - you CAN'T do it all or you'll make yourself sick. Just a suggestion? Mark highlight the ones you ABSOLUTELY want to go to. T...

Re: Five Minute Rant

I'm too tired. Tired of the rejections that mean nothing, tired of the same old stories going through the revolving door. I want to write something new and exciting that someone will be fighting to buy from me. I'm tired of feeling like my short stories are sub par. I know my novels are my strenghts...

Re: Chicon 7

The autograph sessions are listed by number (location on the far left side of the page).

The session numbers refer to the list of authors at the bottom of the sheet. Look slightly up in the same column and you'll find the time/author slot.

Re: Chicon 7

I make some good ones myself, usually when I'm tired, which seems to be all the time these days. Love the Hello Hounds! that's awesome. :) Last night I told the world via facebook that my novel was going to write itself. (Instead of not writing itself) which actually prompted a story idea. :) Thanks...

Re: Chicon 7

Dinner Meat-up, you're funny. I've gone over this thing and I'd like to attend stuff nearly constantly 9am - 7pm. I'm sure I'll be too tired at some point and decide to take a nap and give up on a panel... maybe. ;) Btw, is there a place to get a clearer definition on what the panels are about? If I...

I'm about an hour away and will be taking the train in during the day on Thursday.

If you're going to walk around the city, bring good walking shoes. The architecture and scenery is really lovely and you'll find yourself a long way from the hotel with aching feet... ;)

This brings my pro-sales total up to zero. My grand total career sales stands at two. Both token. And since I've yet to actually receive either token payment, (I refuse to query about money.) I've still not officially met my goal of earning even one cent from my writing by age 40. (5 months remain)...

The suite depends on having partners to share the cost. If I get no takers, we'll be watching Hudson Hawk in a tiny room in the overflow hotel.

You'll find someone, I'm sure. There are enough people going to this thing.
