Re: Jibber Jabber - Q3 - Volume 33
Silver HM, my fist one of those (can somebody please tell me what silver HM really means, and is it sterling silver, or pure silver, and what's the current price per troy ounce?). And does it work on werewolves? Side note: With the Surname Moon, you should win by default...in my humble opinion. Tha...

Silver HM, my fist one of those (can somebody please tell me what silver HM really means, and is it sterling silver, or pure silver, and what's the current price per troy ounce?). This is, if memory serves, four in a row for me from HM to Semi--I've never gotten so many consecutive before, but I'd s...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q3 - Volume 33
Dave posted from Australia that he plans on finishing the judging today. wotf015 Thanks for that, Laurie. That's GOT to be a contest record. Got my Q1 certificate today after getting my 2015 Q4 last week...methinks they are catching up! Best of success on Q3 to all still waiting, and to those that ...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q2 - Volume 33
Just FYI, I think DStein's first name is Dustin. So, I should win this year. As should Dustan. We'd blow everyone's mind! That's 3 Ds. I'm all for winning in 3D. See you there, fellow Dusty people! : ) Conga rats to the winners as well. The comments are good reminders that a writing career is a mar...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q2 - Volume 33
Thanks, Dustan. What's a lexan? Polycarbonate. Thermoplastic polymers containing carbonate groups in their chemical structures. It's the trade name for what the Golden Pen award is probably made from. In other words, very hard plastic. I doubt a small caliber bullet could penetrate a Golden Pen Awa...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q2 - Volume 33
I am placing this here even though technically it belongs almost a year ago. I received a HM certificate yesterday. Thought it would be for Q2 V33 but nope it's for Q4 V2 by the title of the story. By Jodi's comments about Q2 I thought it sounded like they may have forgotten Q4 but evidently I misi...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q2 - Volume 33
I queried Joni today, she responded. wotf056 I've never had one of those yet, since they're relatively new. It used to just be R, HM, Quarter-Finalist (Thankfully re-named Semi to sidestep the confusion) and Finalist. Since I expected ah HM, a SHM is pretty good. Conga rats on your Silver, Laurie! ...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q2 - Volume 33
I got the standard HM notice and certificate request yesterday as well. Even in this messed up quarter, it came on a Thursday. Coincidence? (Plays The Outer Limits theme song). You be the judge. : ) Conga rats to all that entered, and a special cha cha cha to those that got a nod from Dave with spec...

Hey guys. I was one of those who were still waiting for a reply on Q2... Just received it. Semi-finalist! Would have preferred finalist, but I'll take it. :) So, for those still waiting... It's coming! Dancing conga rats for you, Triseult! Kevin J. Anderson told me at an award's ceremony once upon ...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q2 - Volume 33
So my friend at the con with Dave said he told her he's now finished the final batch of Q2 and thought notices should have been going out this past week (but who knows what Joni's schedule is like). So, like I said, it's not over until it's over. : ) Best of success to those still waiting to hear! C...

Call me Ishmael. I was thinking of doing that rhyme, Ishmael. Glad you took the bull by the horns. Funny...if there wasn't so much truth within the verse. : ) Oh, and to the person that asked, Thursday has become iconic for contest results notifications. The odd thing is, news appears to come out on...

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q2 - Volume 33
Why are some giving up, submitting an active story elsewhere, and emailing Joni about their status when the results have not yet been posted? It ain't over 'til it's over. Period. ~Moon~ Results for Q1 have still not been posted, but that quarter is definitely over. There is a possibility that Q2 i...

Worked for me, eight minutes before close, if close is 5 p.m. PST. And that's a first! Joni is going to be so happy she doesn't have to hear from me this quarter. Technology WORKED.

Made it with eight minutes to spare. Such luxury to finish so early! I think I will write a sonnet with all the extra time! Or microwave two bags of popcorn!

Another HM for me. I've quit framing the certificates; I could cover a wall in these things. Would make for interesting egocentric wallpaper. Re: Volume 32 (2016)--Anthology, Workshop & Gala
The ceremony was excellent, and proves why this contest is such a great launching pad for a writer's career. Unless you get to the Academy Awards after this, you have had the most opulent gala awards event at the START of your career, which is what Hubbard envisioned, of course. A big key to success...

Yeah, I'm with Martin, continents don't count. Gotta draw the line somewhere. It was always funny to have people come into the boutique and claim they too were from an island like Fidalgo Island, where the ferry landing at Anacortes perches. If your island is disconnected from the mainland by a wate...

Re: NEW USERS! INTRODUCE YOURSELVES!
Hi Gang. Just found this forum when I went to watch the 2012 awards ceremony. I've entered the contest off and on over the years, have two honorable mentions from the contest on my wall, one with a helpful critique from KD in 2003, the other as semi-finalist 4Q 2000 with an encouraging letter from A...
