Paper rejections... How quaint...
Well, the evil alter egos would print them out because it consumes time and energy...Also Evil Mike and Francis made them out of virtual rejection slips to make the world.

Oh no wait, Nice Elinor says that's not allowed, blast!![]()
I love the Gator's addition. I didn't get everyone on there because it was whoever had just replied in the last few posts. I figured their alter egos were the most active and therefore would have called the meeting to order. Any one who wants to add themselves into the meeting can do it. Although it will be hard to out do the Gator. It sort of changes the ending of the meeting....

Which just goes to show that evil can only end badly.

LOL
Evil Jeanette brings out some additional spices and hands them to the gator.

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29
I know this is completely off topic, but I had this strange dream last night about Q1. They added a short film category to the contest. It could be live action or animated, just as long as the theme was science fiction or fantasy. I even remember some of the rules- had to be no longer than 10 minutes, couldn't be too graphic, and had to be a certain screen resolution. You could send the file electronically or send it through the mail on a dvd. Someone from this board ended up getting finalist, although I don't remember who it was now. Somehow we were all able to view their winning entry before the award ceremony, and it used a bunch of cartoon characters that already existed (in real life this would be copyright!). It didn't go on to win 1st, 2nd or 3rd though. But could you imagine if they did add this category in real life, how long the award ceremony would be with another set of 12 winners!

This ongoing trend of dreaming about contest results (and I admit, I was an early contributor to it) makes me think we all need to go outside and play in the sun for a few days.

It's been sunny and I have most assuredly been playing in it. I live in Seattle. When the sun deigns to come out, you'd better take advantage of it.

Not the best for my word count, but soooo nice for my mental health.

I have a theory on Seattle weather; and it's a theory I actually heard from more than one Seattle resident. The theory is that certain people exaggerate Seattle's cloudy, rainy conditions in order to discourage Californians from moving there.
Of course, if this theory is true, you're honor-bound to deny it...
I also know that when I briefly considered moving to Seattle, family said, "Oh, no, it's so cloudy and rainy." So I did the research, and sure enough: Seattle has fewer sunny days per year than Grand Rapids, my home area.
3 fewer sunny days. That's it.
Meanwhile, Seattle has mountains and ocean and whales and Microsoft and...

Seattle's rain is mainly in the winter. Spring takes a little while to kick start, but come June it is absolutely pure, cloudless blue skies until September. I originally come from the Midwest - so the trade of feet of snow for gloomy rain (which I love) is a welcome exchange!! The Pac NW is just mind-blowingly beautiful. I love it here. Lots of support for the arts, too.

I remember my interview at Microsoft. It was in February. I had left an ice storm in Michigan. I flew back to an ice storm in Michigan. But while I was out there waiting for the Microsoft shuttle bus, I sat on a park bench in the sun and luxuriated in a beautiful day. Yeah, yeah, different weather in different parts of the country on different days; but that day, I fell in love with Seattle. And then the next day when I flew out and saw Mt. Ranier from the air on a clear, beautiful day, I was doubly hooked.

There's some good news for you: apparently you're going to need an acceptance speech!

And that leads me to this song (MP3 link, it may be loud), an Evil Martin favorite!

Am I the only one who has to keep a defibrillator by my desk chair? I come into the thread and see FIRST QUARTER WINNERS and down I go...
So if I wanted to make myself a Google alert that would catch the blog post and/or the press release, what would the proper keywords be? Would those of you who have them in place already care to share?

the only problem with google alerts is it can take days for them to go off. depends when a spider catches the change. I have one set to "Francis Bruno". When I update my blog it sometimes goes off in one day, sometimes within a few. It's not going to beat checking the forum every 30 seconds.

I haven't set a Google alert; but since they seem to announce results on PRWeb first, I tend to refresh this link several times day.

I'm long out of the race but back when I got my rejection I reported that, after circulating my Q1 submission to other markets, The Colored Lens said they would hold it for voting. Well, they told me last week that they want to publish it. Exciting! Still, a small, non-pro market but they are pretty selective.
Because of MCAT studies I haven't been writing much but I hope to get back in the swing of things right after my test (the 21st of June) and get something ready for Q3!

Asia. That's rather, er, nonspecific. You'd think they'd list a country.
If I win, maybe I can just go with "Earth."
