Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29
Commiserations to Holly, Jeremy, Sean, Chris and especially Martin (whom I know best). I know it must be a huge letdown not to win. On the bright side, it's all but certain you'll be in the finalist pool again soon.

Re: Jibber Jabber - Q1 - 29
Tina, Marina, oh my god! 1 and 2!
Wow, super congrats! I'm grinning huge.
Though I can't say it wasn't a letdown not to be in the big three, I think hey, I'm in the Super 8 club. Seriously. That's the coolest thing that's happened to me in, oh, a lifetime? So yep, I'm cheering for my fellow finalists and say we will make it or pro out. And this is huge incentive to get a Q4 entry in, so I can try again to meet you all in CA!
I didn't get asked to hold for the anthology, ah well, but Duotrope has been suitably raided and my story's out on its way again with a shiny new Finalist stamp in my cover letter. So cool.
And yeah, we should go and mob the rest of the list to get on the forum. I've learned more and met more awesome people in the last few weeks than in the last year. Can't let the others miss out on the fun!

Yes, congrats Tina, Marina and Steve. Well done!
And, good luck next time to the finalists who didn't make it. I like the quote from Kevin J. Anderson in the press release -- you certainly didn't make it easy for the judges!

They were an exceptional group of stories this quarter. It was hard to choose the winners.

Huge congratulations to Tina and Marina! Way to go, guys. And Steve too, once again.
Just my luck, no sooner do I go to bed, all hell breaks loose.
Commiserations to Martin and extra helpings of smoked salmon sandwiches. Commiserations also to Holly, Jeremy, Sean and Chris.
Must be a relative of mine...
As for the small number of semi-finalists... I think they were meant to come from the hold pile.
It was at that point that the judging got a little complicated.

Maybe he did less semis this time around because he's trying to catch up quickly, and doing less critiques would help him with that?

Congratulations Tina and Marina! Awesome. You know, I think there's a poem in there somewhere. Or maybe rap. First there was Tina, then there came Marina, and third came Stevena. Didn't say I could rap.
And congratulations to the rest of the finalists. It's a credential that will certainly keep you out of all slush piles!

My thoughts exactly. He's behind and is trying to catch up. Question is how many will he do once he catches up?

If my understanding is correct, the Coordinating Judge can decide not to award all of the slots if they feel there weren't enough appropriate entries. I think this has happened before on the Illustrator's side, but I don't think it happens too much for the Writer's side.

Wow, Tina, congrats!!! And never forget, I was the one who picked you first as winner for the Guessomancy League!!!
Congratulations, too, Marina!!! Third time's lucky, right? And about time you won it!!!
Martin, no commiserations are in order. You are sure to win this contest, pretty soon I'd guess, so this quarter you've just added another finalist under your belt.
Congratulations to Steve, too, and everyone elese who placed, and good like to all in your future endeavors
