I didn't even know they were doing rankings, but turns out this is the first quarter they started! So I'm really happy to have got Honorable Mention on the first official quarter with rankings! Joni also said it will be similar to the writing except there will be no Silvers. So just Winner, Finalist, Semi and Honorable Mention.

Still can't believe it!!! wotf007

This is awesome! I'm so glad they're putting these in categories. Now artists can be encouraged that they are on the right track. So happy for you!

Thank you everyone! I'm also glad they started doing rankings, because it will give me more of a sense on where I'm at and how much more I need to improve. But it also might mean they are getting more and more entries, which means the competition is growing! Time to buckle down!

storysinger wrote:Congratulations Stephanie. wotf010 Maybe one day you can win both contests and illustrate your winning story in an anthology. I wonder if that's ever happened?

A long while back I remember someone saying it's only happened once where a guy won the illustrators and the writers in the same year. Although I doubt they'd assign me my story even if that did happen again. It would be crazy though if it did happen!

Congrats Stephanie!

Sorry Jeremy. As everyone said, you did it once, you can do it again. :)

I, too, did not make the top three (booooo) BUT Joni asked if they can hold my story for possible publication as a published finalist (yaaaaay). Is there a fancy German word for feeling simultaneously super disappointed plus excited and hopeful?

Congrats to whoever the 3 winners may be!!!!

Commiserations, Jen and Jeremy. At least this is an answer where you know you were good enough, and it really was just personal taste that decided it. You know for definite you can win this contest now. Don't stop until you do ;)

As for me, I won't be entering again.

Because I bloody well won it this quarter! wotf015 wotf007 wotf010

All very surreal. Thanks to the eight hour time difference between me and Joni, it was near 11pm when she rang, and I'd been asleep for an hour. If I hadn't told my wife straight away, for her to confirm it really wasn't a dream, I'm not sure I'd believe it this morning. I'm absolutely exhausted now; I didn't get back to sleep until after half two, running through absolutely everything in my mind.

Just... Staggered. Didn't expect it at all
