Now seriously you guys, we are all depending on you! Those of us who are already out will derive a considerably more than vicarious pleasure from the success of fellow forum-members, however veteran or new they may be.

So hope remains. If you submitted through the website, you might want to query. If you submitted by paper, or through direct email to Joni, then you should hear "shortly." And if you're a finalist...just let us know already...for Pete's sake!

Thanks, preston!

I submitted through wizehive, so I just sent Joni a query.

Stay tuned...maybe.

My semi-finalist E-mail said that I would be forwarded a critique from Dave in 'a few minutes'. I have yet to receive it. I queried about that late Monday evening, but have yet to receive a reply. I'm guessing Joni's rather busy at the moment, because she's always been quick to respond to me in the past.

Hmmmm I'd better query. Have a feeling I'm lost in the etherweb. Poor Joni must be busy but I'd like to get the story cleaned up and sent to other markets if it's out of the running.

I wish you many hopes of good responses! Querying, however, doesn't seem to be shaking much loose just now. It does seem that there's more folks still waiting for responses than there are finalist slots, so I'm bracing for just about anything.

Good luck to all still waiting!

Agreed. I still haven't heard anything from my Friday query. I tell you what, though, I can't imagine doing the job she does. Holy moly! How does she keep up with everything? She's one person doing so much work. So, I'm just going to chill, drink an imaginary cocktail, and wait to see what happens.

Mabye if I pretend to be chill, one day I will actually manage it! wotf013

I wish there were some way to know not necessarily which finalists have been notified, but at the very least when all finalists have been notified. The fact that I got Joni's "you're still in the running" e-mail last month means a lot to me, but I've gotta think there's a better alternative to a system in which you can't know if you're one of the highest winners of the entire contest or a complete rejection until you wait for several weeks and then ask.

They are waiting for the quantum wave form to collapse. Unfortunately it has become entangled with v29 Q1... this may take a while. in the meantime, enjoy delicious ambiguity of superposition.

Dear Sir,

Stein? Birch? What names are these?

Simply beer mugs and trees. And no mention of me.

Poppycock!

Yours disappointedly,

Brigadier Sir Charles Arthur Strong (Mrs.)

p.s. - And despite the suggestions of some, I do not have a nom de plume. I have never even heard of Chuck Tingle!
