Because I am a giant dork . . .

According to the time-honored tradition of dandelion augury, Joni will call me with a happy voice.

The Magic 8-Ball, on the other hand, says, "My sources say no."

So there you have it. wotf001

In other news, no, I haven't heard anything.

Yes, but who are the Magic 8 Ball's sources? Where's Julian Assange when you need him?

Friday of the 4th week. No, I'm not twitchy at all. Nope. Not a bit.

The worst part is, I know she's going to call at some point. The phone will ring at some point and it will be her voice on the other end and that voice will have one of two answers. Will I hear Joni's happy voice or her sad voice?

My phone just feels heavier and heavier every day.

A couple of additional verses for the old Thursday song, to make the tension less / more bearable!

I've told you a story
Now you've one to tell me.
My poor heart is aching
Which one will it be?
There's happy-voice Joni
Then there's sad as can be.
I'm sitting here waiting
And it's killing me.

Come all of you writers
Take heed of my tale,
For the process of judging
It moves like a snail
When you make the final
You're glad I can tell
But come round a month later
You're nervous as _____ !

wotf011 Best wishes everyone!

Thursday is an unlisted number, a nondescript brown paper bag, an abandoned shack deep in the woods.
Thursday is incommunicado.
Thursday is dead?
No, Thursday is decay, a yellowed newspaper, the forgotten leftovers in the back of the fridge, the ruins of an ancient civilization.
Thursday is the day after Wednesday. Wednesday is the longest day. Just count the letters.
Nothing ever happened on a Wednesday. Wednesday is wait day.
Are you waiting?

Have you lot still not heard? wotf005

A heads up, if any of you are the first place winner: keep the title of your story secret. Joni always seems to forget to mention it, but if you're a first place winner then your story still needs to be judged anonymously for the Golden Pen, so no title announcements wotf008 (you're not free to mention it until the week of the workshop, in fact).

I'm bad. I haven't subbed this year except for Q1. I stopped to work on my novel, and then this whole finalist thing happened. Now I find that I hate everything I write, so I'm taking a break and just blogging until I get some closure on this thing.

The finalist thing really messes with your head. I have yet to write a decent story while being a finalist. Don't feel bad, this is totally a thing. And 6 weeks. Ouch. My longest wait was last Q4 and I think that was five but of course for the first three I couldn't even talk about it...
