Emily, are you still interested/able to swap?
I'm pushing through a major edit of mine, but could/should be done and ready for eyes by Monday/Tuesday latest.
Given the time constraints, I'll be sure to get yours back to you right away (If you still want to swap).

Yes, I still very much want to swap! It's just...you do NOT want to read it right now...hehe...

If things go according to plan and no other enormous pot holes reveal themselves as I'm polishing, Monday/Tuesday should be great... wotf007

I will be submitting an older piece, since my latest work is not yet fit for consumption and probably not a good fit for this market. wotf007

I just . . . I don't even have a clue what I'm doing for Q3. Not. A. Clue.

I read an article where L Ron wrote a story in two hours and sold it.
May not work for this contest but it was an impressive accomplishment.
In my first year of writing seriously I had 16 unfinished stories.
Now I finish almost every effort at storytelling.

I'm redrafting mine. Again.
If these characters were real, they'd have been torn apart by the inertia of the changes I've put them through.
Actually, that's kinda gross.

I'm sending mine in one way or the other because I'm not spending another quarter on this one. It's not going to be pretty, but on the bright side, I get to work on something new.

Can't wait.

I started my Q3 entry 19 May, finished and submitted it 24, May. The last (and first time) I submitted a short story for WOTF was Q3 Volume 31. It was the first 15,000 words of so of my novel (before I revised and polished it) and got rejected. In addition to polishing my novel so it would be acceptable, I also read Dave Farland's Million Dollar Outlines. I'm encouraged by Ray Bradbury's write a short story a day. I'm going to try to write 4 more shorts around the same theme as my story entered into Q3 this time in July. Summer is my best writing time as I'm a busy Biology professor for nine months of the year. wotf022 I come here to lurk from time to time. Y'all are awesome! wotf010

Hopefully this makes sense. Still waking up so I can look at the course I registered for Science Fiction and Fantasy writing. wotf029

I read yesterday that the most important reason to enter a contest is directed writing practice with a deadline. To me, it's fun to anticipate what will happen. Life without risk is dull. I feel really good about my first sentence and stopped before the story became hokey. Good luck to all, and happy to be twitching with you, wotf011

Well I wasn't able to finish the story I planned on submitting, so I'm going to take a huge gamble and submit my Q2 again, even though I don't yet know it's fate. I made a huge formatting error so I'm pretty confident I'm going to get an R. So if results for Q2 don't start coming out by the end of tomorrow I'm going to do it. After the last time and the online system closing a whole day early, I don't even want to take any chances submitting on the 29th.

I'm aiming for the 29th, although I hope to be done tomorrow. I'm having a hell of a time balancing work and the finalization of the third draft, but I think it'll be worth the effort.

I just hit submit.

This one is actually a story I wrote back in January. I had intended to write something totally new, but I've been distracted with some other projects and real life stuff. So I blew the dust off, added in some sensory details that were lacking, and pushed it over to Joni.

This one's 4700 words, which makes it the second-shortest story I've ever submitted to WotF.

We'll see how it does. Best of luck, everyone!

:)

I'm in! Nervous about this one. I've got a great unique trope. Love my setting and characters, but the structure feels a little off. Okay, now to get working on the next quarter. I always say I won't wait until the deadline, yet hear it is, two days away. I've improved by one day since last quarter. This next quarter, I will not procrastinate!
Good luck, all! Get 'em in! You must submit!
