Thursday, October 13, 11:30 am Central Time.

The above was written in Cuneiform on the back of a fortune cookie. On the front was written in English, "Duck." On my beefy waiter's forehead the tattoo of a red button read, "Don't push me."

Since the front of the cookie was so prophetic, the back can only refer to the first wave of WotF, Q3 results.

Right?

Looks like there have been two Rs on the Grinder this quarter. I wonder if they are actually Q2 Rs that were misapplied? There is also an R in Q4 already which can't possibly be right.

I really think this quarter is going to be very delayed. I'm betting those Rs are holdovers from Q2. I think it may be premature to twitch.

Clearly it would not do to twitch, but might it be acceptable to engage in some pre-twitching?

That's a thing, right?

No News I assume.

Been meaning to say this for almost a week.

I have two feelings about this.

First one:
It will take a while as it seems to be doing.

Second one:
We will get surprised.

I suppose it could be both.

Just saw this on the Grinder:

104 day Rejection, Form from Writers of the Future Contest on Sep 06

According to my calculations, if the date is correct, it would indicate a submission on Wednesday, May 25, 2016--smack dab in the middle of Q3. Could it really be?

Ten rejections have been notified on The Grinder so far in September. There's a 64 day rejection on September 2nd. That looks like June 30th - a last day entry for Q3 - on the graph, which also shows rejections of mid-May and late May as well as for a first day submission on April 1st (seriously?)

I can confirm a wave of results of unknown size is coming in.

I received what I assume is the "Quick R" by email on September 3rd.

I think that means, if you haven't heard anything: no news is slowly inching towards the potential for good news, so stay upbeat people.

Sorry to hear of the R Galen.
I wasn't even thinking about Q3. Now I need to duck and cover.
I have very mixed feelings bout my Q3. I think its very good in some regards, but deficient in others, which means it won't win but could be good for an HM. Fingers crossed.

Brace for Thursday! Brace! Brace! Brace!

*Kary activates the Emergency Thursday Early Warning System*

Dave just said he's been judging stories til he was brain fried and only has a few hundred to go. He's going to be out of the country for a couple of weeks soon, so Q3 might be headed for a really fast wrap-up.

No. There are 11 rejections logged for 31 March. There is one for April 1st, one for 25th May, one for 1st June, one for 29th June and one for 30th June, if I am reading the graph correctly. The other reports may well pertain to the final stages of judging for Q2.

Commiserations Michael. Better luck in Q4.

Appreciated! I admit, for a moment I was suddenly back in the third grade and I was the first kid knocked out in a game of dodge ball.

But I've decided to own the distinction instead... and maybe work on my dodging skill.

Thanks Ishmael!

I am even less confident about my Q4 entry, so I'm kinda scared. Maybe Dave will be so fast he'll go back in time and reject it before I even submit it.

But my Q5 is gonna be awesome! ... er wait.

Commiserations to everyone else coping with their "R" 's and congrats to all those still climbing up that Q3 mountain! Your fellow forumites have some appreciation for how much time and sweat you've poured into your work.
