So the story I wanted to submit last quarter, but failed to revise in time -- I'm now halfway through my revision of it.

Progress!

Search your sent e-mail for the submission. Since their auto-reply doesn't list the story's name, that's really all you have to go on.

Thought so Oh well. That story goes elsewhere, hopefully tomorrow.

Finished the revising. But unusually enough I feel like parts if it could use another round. Not the opening though,

I think parts of it are good. But getting Dave to those parts is another matter. And if I am right about them-probably not.

First draft finished. Could use a first-450 exchange if there are any takers.

Went ahead and pushed submit today. Decided that angsting over it for more time wasn't going to be particularly productive.

Went over my story one last time. Good thing too. There were more nitpicks than I thought there were and I decided to delete two small paragraphs that didn't seem to fit. And I took out those pesky mini, sparkly purple spotted flying unicorns. And one I liked but with the changes I made from the original I couldn't find a place for it. Some other minor changes also plus one last move of a sentence back to the opening. Gaaa.

Actually no pesky mini, sparkly purple spotted flying unicorns. Still need a story with them though. I had a partial idea once. Something about a mad wizard wanting to experiment on them. And maybe something with quicksand??? Can't figure out how I was going to use that though.

The unicorns have to fly because the ground is all quicksand of course! The mad wizard lives in a submarine house under the quicksand where he imprisons everyone who sinks in the sand and turns them into sand eels.

Not sure if I'll be able to make this quarter. I really wanted to especially since I already missed the last two quarters and I don't want to miss a third in a row. I don't know why but lately I've just been in a funk with my writing. Maybe it has to do with having lost my job. Ever since then I've been in a funk with my writing. Totally the opposite in that I thought I'd have more time to write but that is not the case! Well I really hope I can at least finish the story and get it in for Q3.

Probably spent too much time on the opening, probably the wrong trope even though I tried a couple of twists but probably not twisted enough. Since that last one failed so badly...

We're all dealing with populism these days. 45 just invoked Andrew Jackson. Not a fan of Old Hickory, but at least his populism was forward looking unlike the backward looking strain popping up around the world these days.

We have just had an opinion poll in Scotland. 40% thought Scottish Trade with the EU was more important; 40% thought trade with the rest of the UK was more important.

Actual cash money figures: EU is 15% of Scottish trade and rest of UK over 60%.

You see the Scottish government is exploiting Brexit to make an excuse for independence and has been responding to every piece of economic news for the last six months by reciting that Brexit is the biggest threat to the economy.

I believe one of your guys once said words to the effect that you can fool some of the people all of the time?

I'm tempted to try and whip my Story in a Day into a proper WotF submission.

I've got two weeks.

...Theoretically, it's doable.

If what you're selling matches their inherent biases, then yes. Logic and a sense of proportion don't stand a chance against such tactics. The only option remaining is what my Grandmammy used to call "hard way learnin'" Of course in a democracy, this means teaching the lesson to everyone, not just those who need it.

Well, after screwing around with Mass Effect Andromeda all day, I'm finally cracking down and making some needed tweaks to my story before sending it off for a final critique.

Anyone else working on their entry this weekend?

Unless the story I sent to Flametree comes back in time, I may have a hard time making it in this quarter. I'd been procrastinating on editing, and then yesterday I ended up making a trip to the emergency room because of pain in my stomach and back (among other things). Long story short, I'm alright, but I need to be more careful about what I eat in future unless I want to tear apart my insides and experience a pretty hefty amount of pain.

Yikes! Glad you are OK.
I won't be in this Q either. I've got 8000 and counting on my WIP and probably will end up around 12K when all is said and done. Sigh, this was supposed to be a 1K diversion from another story I haven't touched in three months now.
