Poor neglected thread, waiting for the fabled Thursday to come so your first sibling will stop snapping up all the comments.

Here's a tidbit: while the current status of Q1 subs remains unknown, Dave has said he plans to dive into Q2 after Q1 without taking a break in between. So hopefully it won't be another three months before we start getting results on Q2.

Did you email her to ask? I hadn't heard back either, but when I queried her about it, she replied that she had received it and my story had been entered.

I emailed her a month ago, and again today (at two different email addresses). I hope I sent the story and first query to the right email address... wotf018

RELAX! No-one is going to break my record of a rejection 28 days after the closing date!

Yeah, okay, we know the record's been broken before but it ain't gonna be broken this quarter, see?

wotf010 for being confirmed as in for Q2

Yeah, I'm not even going to worry about results until after I get my next story submitted (which will likely be the last week, if not the last day, of June given that I haven't even figured out what I'm going to write yet).

Is that the one where he states reasons for rejecting stories?

Yes. I found it very helpful. He said he's been judging for the past week and making a lot of rejections, so it sounds like he's on his first pass.

I don't think this is the first pass for this particular kick. Pretty sure it's recycled. Nevertheless he probably is on his first pass.

Could be both.

He may keep seeing the same problems so he just used an old post to express that.

Yeah, I've definitely read that one before. Last year, I think. Even so, it's useful information.

Am I correct in assuming that rejections typically come via email and it is only finalists that receive phone calls?

Yes, yes sorry! I submitted my Q2 story on March 30th. I always wait until the last possible minute, but never sub on the very last day -- have run into too many problems doing that, which in turn has made me a bit superstitious about it wotf001

I've never received a rejection. Only contact post story has been a confirmation of receipt, and to ask if I'd like a certificate for my first HM

How do people on here know to update their status to rejected then? Just based on inference because other people were informed of HM or SHM etc?

While very nice to receive, HMs, etc., are still technically rejections. Only the winners and any published finalists are actual acceptances.

Joni sends out emails to everyone that gets either a rejection, a HM, a SHM or a Semifinalist. If everyone else appears to have received a response for a quarter, then its best to query her to find out if your response has somehow gone astray.

Q1 responses should have all gone out by now. No Q2 responses have been sent yet, and likely the first batch won't go out for at least another two to three weeks.

Thank you for clearing that up! That's really quite amazing they send out responses to everyone considering the size of the contest. I entered a much smaller contest and only the winner and two runners-up were notified.
