Yeah, I got the same email. And I had been hoping today would be the Thursday we're all waiting for...

I was glad to get confirmation that my paper sub was received, though. Looks like we're in for the long twitch.

I got the same. I think this is the third time she's confirmed my email submission. Hopefully they can get what ever causes that early closing glitch to stop in the near future.

Rejection came in a few minutes ago. Pretty frustrated, because it was a previous HM and all of my readers agreed it was substantially stronger.

3/27.

I've a bit of a history of getting no rejection email and having to contact the contest staff to inquire. Hence I'm never quite sure, on days like this, whether to feel hopeful or whether to start slamming my head against a wall.

I blew it again totally but this time I at least half way expected it since I thought the used a lot meme might not have enough of a twist for him. But then again it may have been more the writing with my overdone opening.

That is a good portion of the battle. Editor's tastes and preferences are important, especially when the competition is as fierce as it is here.

First post on these forums but for the data you guys are tracking I submitted to Q2 on March 23th and Q3 on April 30th but haven't heard anything yet.

I had submitted once before in Q3 of 2016 and got an HM.

Updated through here, I think.

Just FYI, as of the Tuesday wave, Dave still hadn't finished his first pass on the paper subs (aka anything mailed in or emailed into Joni on the last day).

It's only greenroom with the insider information, which I think he gets through being on a course with Dave that features some actual interaction. The rest of us are just as in the dark as you are, waiting anxiously for tidbits. wotf011

To those in the first wave, rejection sucks. Condolences. But it took courage to submit, and courage to stand with your peers and post your results. Especially if you're a first timer. The rest of us have gotten used to being stripped naked and washed down in front of the barracks with a firehose.

It's good to remember that success comes from failure, because in trying, and failing, we find ways to improve what we do. And eventually, if we keep getting back up, and keep putting our heart into what we do, what we do will succeed. And the more we work on improving our craft, the more successes we will have. In time.

Sally forth! Fortune favors the brave.
