Wow,

Right now I may redo another older stories. There are a few that I like and think the basic story is good.

I have a first draft. It is a mess. I'm going to try to do another quick draft on it before diving into final edits on Q3.

I have a couple stories started, but in all cases the plot has escaped me. wotf017 Not sure what I'll do with them. Maybe throw them at some readers for brainstorming.

I hate when characters insist I write about them and 500 words later look at me like I'm supposed to know what the heck is going on. It's your story, character. YOU tell me!

Got to start thinking on this one.

I originally said I might redo an older story. But I thought of a new story but now not sure which idea I meant. There is one story I started a few months ago and just started to work on again, but I don't know how long-short story, novella, novelette or book. At least no chance it would be a mini or flash story.

I pulled up an old story that I thought had some major plot issues, so I stuck it in the trunk about four months ago. After hanging out with all of you folks for a couple weeks, I popped it open and realized that the only plot issue was in something I used to describe the world during the world-building process; it doesn't even come into play in the story. To say I'm pleasantly surprised would be an understatement.

With that said, anyone want to swap stories for feedback? As my location says, I'm out in the middle of nowhere and the nearest writing group is about 60 miles away so... wotf017

Turns out I do have a story to submit. It's 70's style SF without a happyhappyjoyjoy ending, but it rings true for me. So, in as of today.

You probably want to edit that post to remove any details on your story, ysocks. It could end up resulting in disqualification due to the anonymous nature of the contest.

I've got a great story idea for this quarter. A mix of two eclectic interests, that may well be nobody's cup of tea. Dave might not like it. But I hope I will like it. After struggling to maintain momentum in the last two quarters, I think it's time I started writing for myself again. I figure there's no point going through all this stress just for a story I don't even find particularly exciting. Much better to enjoy the story, so that when the rejections come in, I at least know that I got some enjoyment out of the writing itself.

I think I'm also going to be a lot more intentional about weaving in conflict throughout the story. wotf011

I've got one, I've got one! Nearly 8k in. Hopefully my kids will cooperate and I'll be writing the final scenes in the next few days... then to start the next draft. wotf024

No work on it yet. Even during my two week writing vacation I did nothing on WotF. I did finish a novel-now to find an copy editor who doesn't charge too much. But then again I did have a beta reader look it over. And worked on the revision of another novel, did 7 crits for critters, a few flash and minis stories too. But as I said zip on the contest.

Not even deciding what story to do. If I do not have an idea by Aug first I may redo an older story.
