Genau. :) Although if there are TWENTY dancers in the room...

But I've never been offended being called 'dancer.' Much better than Hansel.

Welcome Tiff. As you can see this place gets kind of crazy, especially around results time, which is doubly so right now :)

Well be welcome.

This is one contest that you will be excited about for a long time.

Unless you get in with your first submission of course, in that case you might be giving us some tips. :)

Good to meet you.

By this quarter do you mean the one that ends in June? If so you have some quick writing to do. :)

Of course I could say the same about me and putting the finishing touches on my story then actually sending it in. A couple of times I didn't do that until the last day. :)

Thanks for the welcome! I do mean the quarter that ends in June! :) It is written but, as you said, I am putting what I hope to be the finishing touches on it. It's never done but at least there's a deadline...

Hello Everyone,

New to the party. My name is Martin. I met a few of you at the Superstars Seminar here in Vegas. Looking forward to getting to know everyone and get some writing done. I'm pretty new to writing so my prose is not quite on par for winning WOTF, but you have to start somewhere, right?

Welcome, Martin! We can never have too many Martins around here!

And while honest self-assessment is healthy, don't self-reject. Let the judges decide whether your prose is ready or not. That's their job. Keep your hands off their job!

Hello Martin.

I agree with the old Martin. That isn't your job even if you inner critic wants to come out and play. It's surprising how well some beginners do. But in either case your job is to learn and to write that's all.

We all had to learn that I think. :)

Howdy! I'm Holly. I'm one of the 1st Quarter finalists (I'm still trying to wrap my head around that!), and got generous invites to come join the fun here, so I'm here. :) I write a general smattering across scifi and fantasy, typically ending somewhere in between. I do art and design, too, and play a handful of acceptable and obscure musical instruments.

I'm super, super excited! I got an Honorable Mention here last year and framed the certificate and look at it every day as proof that yes, I can do it, slog through those next 1000 words and keep going. But to be a finalist...I could gush for hours about how most of my heroes either came up through the contest or are currently judging it. But if you're all here, you probably know what I mean!

Anyhow, saying hi and looking forward to getting to know you all.

Hi Holly! I'm assuming you weren't told to be silent, as we usually are. Odd that, two people announcing... Maybe something was different about Joni's message first quarter?

Anyways, good luck with the contest!

Hello all you wonderful, earth-shaking writers and illustrators! I'm sorry I don't have time to go back and read all 1019 posts...sincerely! I love having a network of like-minded people around me. My name is Arthur Wheeldon and I love to write. Period. I'm 27 and feel as though without the blank page as an outlet for my ever-present (sometimes twisted) ideas, my imagination would grow dark and angry...and I'm not a HUGE fan of anger. Anyway, this is the first time I've every submitted anything to the Writers of the Future. In fact, it is the first time I've ever submitted ANY of my creative works for something other than a grade. I'm happy to become part of something as honored as the Writers of the Future and, should I fail to place this quarter, you can be sure I'll continue to submit.

-Arthur
