Discussion - Q2 - Volume 35
Re: Discussion - Q2 - Volume 35
Probably shouldn't start twitching for another three weeks. That is not going to stop me.

I've had missing words in finalist pieces. It's not a fun feeling when you spot them but it doesn't automatically disqualify you from making finalist! Now, winning on the other hand...
Dave's blog usually gives us the first signs. I've missed a few, but I'll keep an eye out.

Really KD, what are the signs from the blog?

No signs yet. I'm watching. Dave hasn't said a peep!

Results last year came July 8th for me, but that was the second wave with the HMs and such. I'm not sure when the first wave hit. At any rate we've probably got a good while yet before we should think about twitching.

I take a class from Dave as well and he's apparently battened down the hatches and gone into full novel-writing mode recently. Not sure how that'll affect results, but figured I'd share.

Yeah, he's finishing his Runelords series. That's a good point. As the airport arrival and departure board will be saying all weekend: EXPECT DELAYS.

For the interested, Dave peeped. His note today said he was on his first pass. I believe that’s code for Calm Down Writers. But who knows...

So we in for another couple weeks of waiting, for Q2 results? No problem if it is...just a first time entrant here. So I might be a little hyper.

Probably a few weeks before rejections go out, potentially longer for HMs and above.

Re: Discussion - Q2 - Volume 35
Last year my Q-2 first pass result arrived on July 8, pleasingly fast.
In 2016, my Q-2 first pass result arrived a bit late on July 25th.
The first pass, Q-2 result was the slowest ever in 2015 when the email arrived on August 18.
There's more than enough time for a bouncing mid-July first pass this year. Don't wait, though, there are dozens of other markets to send stories to, so you can twitch all day, every day. I have a keen ear for the sound of exploding heads.

Ok contest, I'm ready for results now.
I'll be curious to see if Q2 follows recent patterns and Joni rings the finalists before the email responses go out.

Hey guys! Q2 was my first time submitting to this competition (and I'm now nervously checking my email every day for news haha) and I saw that you guys were talking about one of the judges posting about where he is in the process, and I was just wondering if someone could post the link to that so I can obsessively check that as well.

The first judge you have to get by in this contest is David Wolverton (aka David Farland). He has a pretty amazing writing tips blog where he’ll periodically drop nuggets of info alluding to where he is in the judging process.

On Dave's blog, you might next hear something like, "I've finished my first reading over entries in a certain writing contest I judge. And I find a common mistake that beginners make in their writing ...."
THAT's when you can start to twitch. Especially when you read the post, scratch your head, and race back to your submitted manuscript because his tip sounds peculiarly like something you did in your entry. : )
