This would mean the eight finalists would be sent to the judges as soon as Dave sends in the total batch. And all notices get held until the judges vote on First, Second, and Third place. Then you could release it all at once. It would be more streamlined, and less painful to Finalists that before got a call they were Finalists, and later got a call they didn't make it in.

I guess we'll find out tomorrow if there is something new here.

That could happen. I for one - as a four time non-winning Finalist - would be sad. Knowing you're in the running is amazing, it's worth the "sorry, didn't make it" letdown. It powers you on for those weeks to think about your craft.

But we shall see what Thursday has in store!

Good to hear your perspective, KD. I guess I'm more of a "rip the bandaid off in one pull" kind of guy. Let's get this over with! : )

Yes writing the story for Q1 would be so much more productive (and sane) than practicing guessomancy as to time of release and personal results. Still the algorhythms dance in my head, stomping out creative intrusions as I check calls and emails for the fifth time this hour.

Excuse me I need to check them again, you guys are strangely quiet...are you reading Joni’s email now?

Sounds like something someone who is getting a call from Joni might say!

Just wondering if...

WOTF participants-
We sincerely regret to inform you that Q3 has accidentally fallen into an alternate dimension. Due to current shortcomings in our technology today, we are unable to retrieve it at this time.

Go figure, someone must have inadvertently written a long forgotten spell in their story and whoof!

In truth, Joni stated in yesterday’s email, “I’ll be getting the results tomorrow!”

She didn’t actually say when she’d be giving them to us...

Maybe keep a parenting diary and then add a science fiction element to it. Bam, you've got an epistolary piece that's deeply meaningful...when you go back to writing fiction.

Red alert! Dave's newsletter just came out, that means he's done with the contest right? Was he talking about my upcoming rejection when he mentioned LSD?
My story WAS pretty trippy. Let me check the crystal ball...and my emails...and my phone.

Honourable Mention. And so I bow out with 10 HMs and 1 Finalist. It's been a good run, and I've learned loads by entering the contest throughout the years and having deadlines to work with. Cheering for the rest of you, and I'm still up for story exchanges in the future should anyone need it.

Same here, 3rd HM.
Brandon Sanderson received his first pub deal the year after his first HM, so I’ll take it!
I think they indeed had more entries this quarter, as some have been saying, because I’m positive this story would have beaten my other HMs.

HM. So much for trying humor to see if it would turn the tables for me. This is now 13 honors out of the 14 times I've entered with Dave as judge. The good news is there's still one more quarter for the year, and I'm in! One more chance to meet Topanga Canyon, I mean, Preston, in Hollywood!

Congrats to all those that entered, and to all those that placed. Especially to those that got their first certificate. Well done!
