To make worlds from words and get rich
But every three moons

For along came a sign,
That all would be fine,
Actually wait...that's not right,
I just dreamt it.

Re: Discussion: Q4 Volume 35
Just got the email.
It's funny. I met Dave at a workshop in Vegas a month or so ago, and I told him I seem to have a talent for getting Honorable Mentions.
Sure enough....got another HM.
That makes 8 of the suckers, I think. But I lost count a while back so who knows for sure?
Best of luck to the rest of you!

Michael

Re: Discussion: Q4 Volume 35
Just got my email. It's an R for me this time.
Glad to have gotten the news; I've been impatient to send this story out to literary journals. I knew this was probably not the right market for it (it's the weirdest story I've written to date) and I want to try and find it a good home.
Congrats and condolences all around

Re: Discussion: Q4 Volume 35
I take my poem back. It IS Thursday, after all. I got an HM. My 3rd one. This is one I specifically wrote for WOTF, after a long hiatus from submitting. I may shop it around. This is the first time I've felt compelled to submit again right away. So I may try that.
Congrats to all the HMs and above. Condolences to all who didn't win.

Entered for the first time this quarter and am tickled to have earned an HM. (Especially with a comic fantasy piece) So a smallish happy dance for me. Congratz to all the winners and a helping of virtual whiskey or chocolate for those needing comfort.
Now off to see if I have the nerve to enter again.

Got an HM,
It takes every little bit of my creativity and skill to land an HM. I was hoping to progress further with this story. I really thought it would take me to the next tier, but I will have to be happy it's not an R. Good luck to those still awaiting results!

Got an R...was hoping for an HM, but after one of those hinty blog posts from David Farland and rereading my own story and noting a mistake (
) it's what I expected. But I still have some faith in the story, so we'll see if I have any luck after another run through/revision. Oh well, congrats to everyone who put in the work to have a story to submit!
Hopefully I'll have my piece for this coming quarter done on time, haven't started yet, but after two other quarters it'll be the first one I wrote especially for the contest.

Got an R this quarter. I knew it was coming (wrong type of story for WoTF, but I didn’t have anywhere else to put it), but Ra always hurt a little.
Congrats to everyone who submitted and those left to place!

Re: Discussion: Q4 Volume 35
Haven't gotten an email yet, but these things come in waves. Congratulations to all that entered Q4, that takes courage. Congratulations to all that received an honor, especially LittleRed that entered for the first time and immediately got an HM. That's cool! Remember, this is the Olympics of speculative fiction, and we're all competing against the best "amateur" writer athletes in the world. Think of what it takes for someone to win a Gold, a Silver, a Bronze in the Olympics.
Same thing here. So we all must keep training and pushing our limits, because none of us have hit them yet.

HM for me. I did write the last 1500 words the day before the comp closed, and knew it needed a couple of weeks' more tidying. Already in the next quarter.
Some HMs More Rs - I keep thinking I'm getting closer, but perhaps not.
